Forum Update 24 July 2017
An update of the forum software (to phpbb 3.2.1) is happening this morning so you may find the forum looking a bit different to how it normally looks for a while until our 'fiso' style is restored (and it may go offline for a bit).
Please report any bugs here.

it has resumed its old self style nowOxford NZ wrote:Site looks very different now.
I was missing the orange, even if for a brief while
just pointing out, the dropdown menu under your username at page top right, now defaults to open
i.e. it alwasy shows
- User Control Panel
Profile
Logout
not a problem, just to say
a bit annoying instead:
previously, the [list ] bbcode effectively worked as just "indent" unless you explicitly began a row with [* ] the bullet clause.
Now instead, it might have been improved in some aspects (i.e. it works even if you forget to close the command with [/ list])
but it always opens first line with a bullet even if you don't insert the [* ], i.e. even if you don't wanted it but just wanted to indent the text without bullets at all
see for instance the username menu above, which I just wanted to indent without bullets. Before I could do it, but now I can't

Re: Forum Update 24 July 2017
Hey, wait!
It IS different indeed.
It now adopted the mobile layout even from PC
that is, it doesn't reserve a left frame in each post anymore for username, avatar, Location, FS Record
is this deliberate, and final, or is it still in the 'restoring' process?
I had plenty of room on my PC display,
and I was perfectly happy with the detailed format from PC, and the abridged one from mobile.
Now if I want to check a poster Location, FS record, posts count/link, and contact him, I have to open his profile from PC too
Was that a choice or a restraint imposed by the new sw version?

Re: Forum Update 24 July 2017
nor can you see who started a topic anymore, from the topics list
what I wanted to add, is I understand it's a free service, and the board tries to cater for the users comfort and needs
should we lose some minor feature we got used to, I hope it will at least allow better performances by the server, and/or costs saving by the owners...

Where has the login button gone to?
I had to go to the forums and then click login from there.

Bug
In case it hasn't yet been spotted, the CODE facility doesn't align table columns properly, eg:

The stats are dark and full of errors.
Re: Forum Update 24 July 2017
Quote's are putting extra attributes in too which is seemingly stopping the name of the quotee from appearing, for example, this is the quote tag being generated for the post above
Code: Select all

I tried to edit out the extra code and restore the old syntax (quote="name"), doesn't show anyway

Re: Forum Update 24 July 2017
Yep, there seems to be an issue with quotes even when in previous form.
Instead of [ quote="Stemania" ] the quote button now defaults [ quote=Stemania post_id=123456 time=151234567 user_id=1234 ], but quoting a message from earlier in the thread whilst writing your reply still results in the first of the two.
In both cases you cannot see the name of the person quoted in the quote.
E.g.:

Re: Forum Update 24 July 2017
now it works (on Chrome from PC)
both the old way, in the old way
and the new way, with the added feature of higlighting the quotee with a link to his/her profile, a link to the quoted post to its right, and its timestamp below
cool!

Re: Forum Update 24 July 2017
I like the new quoting features.
Couple of purely superficial things:
like so. Previously the number of like breaks in your reply matched the number visible, which was useful.
Also, is it possible to get the nice new quote features (links to profile and post) added when you quote a post from the conv history during editing a post. E.g., if I now quote thisfrom a previous post:
it does not come with the links automatically. Edit: OK, weirdly for this quote the number of line breaks displayed is one more than the number in my reply - weird inconsistency!
Couple of purely superficial things:
If you leave a line break before or after a quote in your reply, the text seems to now default to be snug up to the quote like so, and to get a proper line break after each post (which imo is sometimes far easier to read) you must leave two line breaks in the replyStemania wrote:generic quote

Re: Forum Update 24 July 2017
I'd like to add my voice to Stemania's - ie this is what happens when you reply to a post - the two posts are squashed up together, making the first line of the reply hard to read. Can you build in a default line space please?
