Blame the timewasters in the Newcastle crowd who held on to the ball when it went out of play and the tiresome timewasting when Rafa was making his substitutions. Wolves have scored six goals in the 90th+ minute so far this season.

It’s been frustrating to watch Wolves defence underperform their stats. Is Patricio simply not that good of a keeper? Is that the issue?

I know right ... £400k/week  Is he going to stay fit long enough to earn it? He just always seemed so in-and-out at Arsenal, I'm not sure how much of it was his or Arsenal's 'fault' but he's certainly hit the jackpot now.

I don’t understand how Juve are doing it.
Yes they are the biggest in Italy at present and yes they are alway in the CL.

But they are behind Arsenal and Spurs in the football rich list (and they have Ronaldo on the payroll). So how can they afford that amount?

No transfer fee. Associated question though is how will others in the squad feel about a player being paid a lot more than them just because his contract was up.

https://www.juventus.com/en/news/news/2 ... ventus.php
the officail site article and official press just say
Turin, 11 February 2019 - Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that a contract of employment with the player Aaron James Ramsey, effective as of 1st July 2019 and expiring on 30 June 2023, has been signed. As a result of the registration of the player, Juventus will incur additional costs of € 3.7 million, to be paid within 10th July 2019.
the gazzetta.it article expounds/alleges that his wage will be € 7 mln per season, PLUS bonuses.
the € 3.7 mln are for his agent David Baldwin

I honestly never reflected whether the sums we read are gross or net of taxes.
  • In the only 2 or 3 interviews I had when seeking a job, I think I got proposed the net yearly wage,
as the company keeps and directly pays my taxes slice to the state agency.

I think that's the same with football clubs?
So if the sum was correctly leaked/disclosed, he'll earn net €7mln+bonuses, and Juve will add almost the same
(highest tax rate here is currently 43% of the income part exceeding €75k)*
CR7 gets from Juve € 30 mln NET per season (or 31, different sources), plus his sponsors,
which makes net € 580-590k / week, which has to be compare with Ramsey gross £ 400k/week
Ramsey net "base" should be instead "just" €135k/week, no idea how much the "bonuses" might add

(*) gross € = 7 / 0.57 = 12.28
gross £ = 12.28 / 1.14 = 10.77, that is a season in pounds including taxes, without bonuses

so, either the deal has potential gross bonuses of £10mln over a season, almost doubling his base wage,
or there is some discrepancy between the BBC alleged wage and the gazzetta.it alleged wage

It makes you wonder, given how well Juve seem to work the Bosman rule, how far in advance of contract expiration they are talking to players. Two, three years? If so, clearly the coach has no say in that.

I remember reading a good few years ago that Juventus are one of the few teams in Italy who own their stadium, as most teams just rent them from their councils... I'm guessing this opens up ways of making more money, assuming they rent it out for other things...

From their Wiki: "The stadium was built on the site of Juventus' and Torino's former home, the Stadio delle Alpi, and is one of only three club-owned football stadiums in Serie A, alongside Sassuolo's Mapei Stadium and Udinese's Stadio Friuli."

No love for united PSG. Reasonable game but no goals so far

Di Maria doing his best to get young sent off before magically being pain free and ready to play once the ref had decided not to send him 🙄

Cripes. First Martial feels his hammy, nearly comes off, then Lingard feels his hammy (his, not Martial's) and went off for Sanchez?

Edit Martial off too.

Yeah two injuries is far from ideal

This ref is tripe. Clear foul for a pullback on rashford from kimpembe who is on a yellow and he doesn’t even give a free kick because he knows it’s a second yellow after giving a yellow for almost every foul in the first half

Based on this second half performance im scared to think what the score be with Cavani and Neymer playing.

De Gea keeping us in the tie like always.

We need to get it to 2-2 or its over this

This ref is soooooo poor. Handing out yellow cards like lollies

Pogba given a second yellow in what some refs would have given a foul his way 😂

Kimpembe not being sent and scoring the opener and then he compounds it with that filth

Haven’t been counting but probably 10 cards + given out I’d imagine

If Ramsey is fit he is one of the best box to box midfielders in Europe, its no wonder some of the biggest and best teams on the continent were said to be after him.

Funny
I haven't seen any footage,
but while zapping I caught a couple local TV "live comments"
all the commentators there were animately soliciting:
  • "If Orsato does NOT give that 2nd yellow out of "respect" for Pogba, he does a BIG mistake.
Too bad for Pogba, but that was a clear yellow, Studs Up! No question!"
with approval comments after Orsato obliged.

Italian commentators had no preference for the English or the French team (they were following the match alongside Roma-Porto),
and it wasn't a case of "supporting" the italian ref either, as they were all energetically calling for the 2nd booking, especially after they reviewd the slomos, *before* the ref gave it, on two different channels.

I haven't checked the footage yet, and frankly I won't as I'm not much interested.

but having heard two diametrically opposite opinions on the subject, I'd say
- your comment is just your opinion?
- maybe united-tinted glasses? :P

the same commentators above, said something like: "PSG is without Neymar and Cavani, but paradoxically they're maybe playing BETTER WITHOUT them..." :?

Definitely tinted glasses but my comment was still correct. They both lunged in and caught each other.

The pogba red is far more understandable without him letting off kimpembe earlier in the game

The ref made his bed in the first half by giving a yellow for virtually any foul so there was always going to be someone getting a red

The ref was hideous, an absolute joke - he shouldn't be in charge of a Kindergarten match let alone a Champions League game! If the bloke who scored the first goal had been sent off when he should, the result might have been quite different.
