GW36 Wildcard Planning

Post by Smurphy Paw »

The last Double Game Week has only just finished, short GW35 is yet to begin and already my mind is turning to hitting that Wildcard button. Who else is in?

Me . Still have bench boost and triple captain left too

Initial thoughts are to have a big gamble and avoid the high % ownership for the run in.

FFS I’ve only just stopped exhaling my sigh of relief at the GW closing.

Now I need to start tampering again!

Yeah me... Pity about the info on Mee returning, or potentially returning, as Long was a complete lock for me until I heard that.

My initial thoughts are - Salah or no Salah? And any Man United attackers or not?

Wildcarding with BB37 in mind so I’ll be having Lukaku.

My gut feeling was to go without Salah but that draw today has made it a bit more muddled... I think if we get news he's to start v Stoke I'll be keeping him.

On United, I'm half tempted with Pogba. I'm pretty set on Kane-Jesus-Ayew as my forwards unless there's an injury or something

I did a very draft draft and ended up with Lukaku, Ota and 2 City mids, rather than Jesus. However cash may become a factor and Jesus is a lot cheaper. Not considered options yet

Initial effort I'm thinking Kane, Jesus and Perez up front.
I then need a cheap doubler for midfield. Possibly Ward-Prouse, although he's got unreliable minutes played, which is a concern.

I'll probably have some representation from Newcastle, Southampton and Swansea in defence. Need to get a pen and paper out and properly look at the fixtures.

The Mo question needs answering too.

Oh, dear, not a brilliant start. I triggered the wildcard, switched a few players and ended up taking out a couple of players who I may want - and who’s prices rose last night - including Otamendi. Schoolboy error

First go at it, with GW37 BB ahead

Loris - Fabianski
Alonso - Smalling - Chilwell - Massuaka - Naughton
Eriksen - Sterling - Sane - Pogba - Kennedy
Kane - Vardy - Ayew

How do you think it looks?

My first proper draft. Mahrez/Perez could become Kenedy/Vardy.

I’m looking at the exact same plan.

Kane, Jesus, Perez up front. Newcastle, Southampton, Leicester and Swansea in defence.

The cheap midfield slot looks problematic for me too. Kennedy looks the best bet, but I already have 3 Newcastle in the draft (Perez, Dubravka and Yedlin) and don’t particularly want to drop any of them. No-one else under £5m stands out.

The final midfield slot would become easier if I let Salah go :?

Early draft, setting up for BB37:

Letting go of Salah frees up a few extra pennies to spread around the pitch, and I'd happily (apprehensively) give the armband to Kane this GW36. I wouldn't want to play Salah in DGW37 anyhow, with Kane locked in as captain that week. It's a big decision though for sure. Having him for GW36 and GW38 could easily balance out any gains from swapping him out in DGW37. So I don't know.

Carroll as 5th mid? He's still on his share of set pieces, right?

I'm not sure Carroll is nailed, though he's definitely tempting, as is King. Definitely prefer Ayew to Perez up front.

I happen to have the exact money to do this
GW37.jpg
The Sane and Lingard positions were the last to fill. I could go to Kennedy and then have £9.8m left for a midfielder (Salah is valued at £9.8m for me) or I could pick a cheaper midfielder and turn one of the defenders into Alonso. Not sure.

Eriksen over Alli for me . Eriksen seems the only untouchable of the Spurs MIDs

I like Arnautovic . Going zero Man U so definitely like the idea of him busting a clean sheet and getting me points

First attempt at it:

Ederson, Fabianski
Smalling, Chilwell, Cedric, Fernandez, Vertonghen
Eriksen, Sterling, Pogba, Arnautovic, King
Kane, Jesus, Perez

Got exact funds for this

To Salah or not to Salah..

It’ll be another hide behind the sofa for their home game against Stoke if I go without him.

Jesus, Sterling, Kane, Eriksen, Ramsey, Arnie, Chilwell and Yedlin all locked in.

Lot of money in your keepers. Even with end of season rotation... surely worth a cheaper reserve?

It's Ederson and Fabianski, not Ddg. Edited

Is dropping Salah really worth the risk? He has so many motivational factors - CL semi and final, golden boot, World Cup - Klopp will rest him for one game but no way will it be more.

But if that one game is at home to Stoke, which it makes sense that it is then he can't he a better prospect than Jesus, Kane, Sterling or Eriksen for GW37 with just an away tie against Chelsea. Of course if he does play against Stoke then that is a different matter but hopefully Anfield Express can clear that up before hand.
