Exactly, just look at Man City this year for evidence of this. When pressed (as Liverpool have done to them, twice, and even United in the second half today) their defensive ponderousness can be exposed. Attack truly is the best form of defence (as long as you don't lose the ball while you're attacking, that is).

All odds below from Paddy Power.
City 4/1 to qualify, Liverpool 1/7.
Which is 16/1. Personally, I'm having a bit of 3-2 City at 17/1, or maybe even 3-2 Liverpool at 35/1.
Or maybe both.

I agree. I see people have been fawning over Umiti, LFC could really punish him, he's error-prone and clumsy and will struggle under real pressure.
I think Bayern and Real would beat Liverpool comfortably though. They can sit deeper and have an anti pressing MF. Kroos first touch is ridiculous.

Kroos and Modrić are a drool-inducing midfield pairing, I could watch them both endlessly.
I agree that Bayern and Real probably have the nous to beat Liverpool. Barcelona could certainly beat them too, but would be more susceptible to Liverpool's high press and would probably be reliant on Messi having a stormer.
Which could well happen, because, you know, he's Messi and stuff.

I prefer watching the way Kroos and Modrić control games. Isco is more of a decorative presence that can flit in and out of games, whereas Kroos and Modrić are usually fully involved for the 90. But yes, a fantastically gifted player also. I believe Guardiola is a big fan.

Don't know about drool but I was at the Chelsea 1-1 Barça game a few weeks ago and was unbelievably impressed with Busquets (or "Bussy Bussy" as the Barça song goes). I think every time I have seen Barça live before I have been focused on the likes of Messi, Iniesta, Xavi. But Chelsea were very good in that game and Messi was quite peripheral until his late goal. It was Busquets that held Barça together. I don't think I have seen a better DM display since Makélélé and that's saying something. He is a brilliant player.

There's a beautiful Vicente Del Bosque quote about Busquets: "You watch the game, you don't see Busquets. You watch Busquets, you see the whole game."

Yes, he is known for his diving antics. Then again, aren't most players in the Spanish top flight know for that (especially in the derbies..)..

GW35 LFC Vs WBA moved to Saturday 21st 12.30 [leaked team when available]
Great news for FH chip and LFC owners.
Likely a strong team will be rolled out to relieve any remaining pressure of securing top 4.
I will post the leaked team in here when it's released.

That might be affected by whether Liverpool's CL SF is Tuesday 24/4 or Wednesday 25/4. We'll know later today. Better for me if it's Wednesday because that will create huge rotation pressure for Liverpool in GW36. I'd love to see a GW36 Liverpool with no Salah, Firmino & Co.

Re: GW35 LFC Vs WBA moved to Saturday 21st 12.30 [leaked team when available]
I don't think Mane, Salah or Firmino will be rested for WBA even if the SF is earlier or later, they will very likely just be rested for Stoke. It makes sense to win the WBA game and play a strong team to secure top 4 rather than play a weakened team and possibly drop points. Win the game, go in a with a clear head and focus into the UCL SF without having any work left to do in the league would be how I approach it. Also the LFC back up is simply just not good enough (Ings and Solanke) to rely on getting results.Ruth_NZ wrote: ↑13 Apr 2018, 07:07ZeroRemorse wrote:Likely a strong team will be rolled out to relieve any remaining pressure of securing top 4.

Klopp has expressed that Salah doesn't need much rotation because I quote "he's a naturally fit guy" (them African genes). I can't remember exactly, but he did say something similar about Firmino too. I think only Hendo/Ox face rotation threat here and maybe Robertson.
But I really do think close to the strongest team will be rolled out, then rested midweek vs Stoke.

Re: Leaked LFC team news, very reliable source (proven on GW33 17/18)
Stoke is a weekend game.
I want to see Liverpool field a heavily rotated team against Stoke more than anything else because I won't have Salah that week. GW35 (WBA) doesn't bother me because we'll probably have an idea of the team and I'll be on FH. If the CL SF is Wednesday 25th (50% chance) that'd be great because it would virtually guarantee what I am hoping for. Weds-Sat-Tues is a far tougher schedule than Tues-Sat-Weds.

I need to start thinking about VVD's spot in my team. He will be a huge question mark for Stoke. Even though Matip is out, Klavan is available and he's not a bad defender.
Robertson owners should probably sell too.

Anyone know if Salah will start? Dont know whether to go with Salah or have 4 at the back and go with Soares of southampton (2 games). Don't wanna choose Salah and he only gets a 20 min sub appearance.

Liverpool get Roma, first leg at Anfield.
This bodes well for Salah to play in BOU and WBA.

Yes you would think Bournemouth fairly safe whatever the draw may have turned up.ZeroRemorse wrote:Liverpool get Roma, first leg at Anfield.

Whether they play the first leg on the Tuesday or Wednesday could be crucial in Klopp's thoughts as to whether he starts his key players away to already relegated West Brom.
Roma is by far the more important game and it might well be a temptation to rest his star players with perhaps one or two on the bench in the unlikely scenario that already relegated West Brom give them any difficulty. Tbh with the top four virtually guaranteed I think rest may win.

First leg is the Tuesday so big gap around the WBA game.
Klavan and Clyne out so for tomorrow, assuming Firmino is fit and there are no secret injuries then your ITK only needs to confirm Moreno misses out and which one of Ox/Milner/Wijno misses out (Klopp virtually said Hendo will start).
My 'ITK' guess-
Karius
TTA Lov VvD Rob
Hen Ox Wij
Sal Fir Man

No a smaller gap, Wednesday would have meant an extra daymurf wrote:First leg is the Tuesday so big gap around the WBA game.
Gwk 35 v WBA Saturday
1st leg v Roma Tuesday
If on a free hit then it could be wise to pick a Salah team and one without
Hopefully Anfield Express may give a clue to whether it's worth the risk.

Yes it is definitely more favourable for the home game against Stoke in between the two legs, but such is the importance of the champions league semi and by comparison the relative unimportance of the Stoke game with the top four virtually assured that the greatest priority for the game may be no injuries to any key players.murf wrote:Sorry - meant the game between the 2 legs. Klopp may easily think the best way of achieving such a priority would be by benching or resting his stars anyway, it possibly depends on just how much is still riding on the second leg or whether the tie is as good as over for either side.
