Its all guff, the tweet about Mane limping into Shire is hilarious.

If the medical staff advise anyone needs a rest they get one.

With the league game being on Saturday and the second leg not being until Wednesday, the first thing I thought when Salah was subbed off early was "oof, he probably starts GW36 then". :?

Mane being rested I wouldn't be surprised by - he's played just about every game for ages and often gets pulled early. Firmino has already had two rests in the league recently, but he's so important to the way they play it could easily be cotton-wool-o'clock with Ings and Solanke available.

I don't think I'll own any Liverpool players this week so I'm sortof hoping for no leaky tweet at all.

If Mane is a doubt I think it's safe to assume Salah starts.

If Liverpool somehow lose to Stoke, Chelsea can get top 4 over Liverpool by winning their remaining games.

It’s a tough dilemma.

Liverpool can get champions league football next season by getting 4 points from three games.

Stoke (h)
Chelsea (a)
Brighton (h)

They can also get champions league football by getting the equivalent of 4 points in their next two games

Roma (a)
Bayern/Real (n)

Obviously the second route is much harder (in terms of opposition... and it’s boom or bust by that stage). But it’s also so much more prestigious.

As manager, surely got to think we could get a draw and a win from the two home games even with a weakened side.

I’d rather have everyone available for the Roma away so we can at least get to the final. If we don’t get a favourable result against Stoke, by the time we play Chelsea we’ll know our CL fate. We can then decide whether we have to treat the game against Chelsea like a cup final or not.

And what’s the point in busting our balls to get in it... if we then don’t try everything possible to win it, once we’re in?

Yeah, I haven't read the recent conversation here, but as I side note it seems people sometimes think it's more important to get in the UCL for the next season than actually win it in the current season. It's not just this case, but it's something I have noticed many times.

Perhaps there is some element of truth because there's so much money in the UCL, but it just seems twisted.

4 points from the 2, having lost to Chelsea?

1pt with a draw vs Chelsea, or none with a win?

For those who follow bib theory:

Starting- VvD, TTA, Clyne, Hendo, Milner, Wijno, Ings

Missing- Lovren, Moreno, Salah, Firmino

Others like Klavan and Mane not in photos

A draw with Chelsea then a single point from the other two fixtures will do.

A win against Chelsea and zero points needed.

EDIT: I can now see you were stating this already 🤣

Hence my reasonsing for taking a risk against Stoke.
Even losing (to Stoke) isn’t the end of the world.... definitely not desirable but there’s a way back.

Get Roma boxed off and then we can focus our attentions according.

Better still, Swansea could hold Chelsea to a draw and spare us some stress.

Bib theory belongs in the 1970s

That could just mean they are having no contact training

I follow it religiously if it suits my team plans and ignore it completely if it doesn't.

At the moment it looks pretty accurate to me as I may not be fielding any reds this week.

I think VVD is critical for LFC at this point, defensively sets the team so well, I'd be really surprised to see him rotated right now.

The only think I find strange about my bib observations is no Firmino.

Klavan and Solanke will probably start so if not Firmino then who? Woodburn?

If Solanke and Ings start, itd have to be a 3-5-2? And technically a lopsided 3-5-2 if Salah is starting, as I don't expect him to come back too much defnively,so the right sided fullback will tuck in behind that space and the LWB will sit back a bit?

My guess if that was the formation, Gomez will play RCB behind Salah and Robertson as LWB with Klavan LCB and VVD as CB.

Of course. Imagine among all this hysteria and the chance of going into the CL final, they miss out on top 4 and end up losing to Real/Bayern

A draw vs Stoke should be enough, then get the win vs Brighton.

 Exactly my thinking haha

Perhaps those people are Arsenal fans who are so used to finishing top 4 in the PL so they can get in the UCL to lose in the 8th finals but end up in the top 4 of the PL so they can play in the UCL to lose in the 8th finals but end up in the top 4 of the PL so they can...

I think LFC missing UCL is worst case scenario stuff, around 15%.

I think most be agree that LFC have been a better team than Chelsea this season, it would be a shame if they then missed out on UCL. I actually don't think they'd beat either Real or Bayern in the final, so they need to finish in the top 4.

Yep, yep (Stoke are poor), and I would expect that, but they have defensive "issues"?

However, Klippity may well be eyeing 2nd....

Build-up to the leaked lineup. :D

Klopp: "But if they want to stay up, they need to do that without the points at Liverpool because we need them.
We respect Stoke and we respect the competition. We have really big ambitions."

"Chelsea can win all their remaining games.
Nobody can say we will win there for sure.
It is possible and we need to make sure that isn’t enough.
We still need points. We are desperate, like Stoke.
It is only about this game.
In my point of view, this is the game of the season. It is a final."

"We don’t have a lot of time between games.
I prefer to wait until I have to make decisions.
But my line-up, is to win the game. That is the only thing.
It is not about resting players. We are short of players.
We play Tuesday and Saturday. It is OK from a recovery point of view.
We could play the same team, if players are available.
It is a Premier League game and it is very important for both sides."

"In general, they [younsgsters] are ready.
It is about moments and the situation.
We cannot play three or four of them at the same time.
Ben [Woodburn] was really ill a few weeks ago and it takes a little while.
The others are a little younger. They will be around and in the squad but we cannot rest three or four players if they are able to play.
What would people in other clubs say? It is about the fair play of the competition.
It isn’t allowed and I don’t think about it."
