FPL Cup 2018 - FINAL - ft FISO's Joshhhua
With the huge number of teams they have started it early this season. A top 4.2m rank in gameweek 16 gets you through to the Cup proper.
Traditionally, whoever starts this thread goes out very early. You're welcome.

Yep, you need to qualify but from the first round it's a H2H knockout with no seeding in the draw.No Way Jose wrote: ↑03 Dec 2017, 22:26 As a first year rookie, how does this badboy work? Randomized knockout comp?

Yup. You need to be in the top 4194304 gameweek 16 rank then it's head to head against random teams until you get knocked out.
With so many teams in this year, you might get a couple of rounds of dead teams early doors. Legions of Fiso regulars will post in here lamenting hauls by Lukaku, Alli, Hegazi et al belonging to the guy ranked 5m who hasn't touched his team since GW1 beating their carefully statted sculpted slick XV they have put together.

Cheers! Do I have to enter or is it automatic? I'm only in a few leagues this year as a last minute sign up so would like more to make things more interestingTacalabala wrote: ↑03 Dec 2017, 22:27Yep, you need to qualify but from the first round it's a H2H knockout with no seeding in the draw.No Way Jose wrote: ↑03 Dec 2017, 22:26 As a first year rookie, how does this badboy work? You can be sure someone very good on the forum won't qualify. I think I had my worst gameweek for the season that time last year

had the qualification been this GW15,
the following 5 amongst the Forum League top ranked woulnd't have made the 2^22 GR cut:
konstro, jobmeister, jacksosi, icefish, Stemania
(then ishnid, minigokou, Fuzzy, Neath boy, AMc, pascalevans, theplayer, danzku, Blacksunrise, ...)
in GW14 Pilaya, the dude abides, admin, MorrisonDullforce, sir_john_grimes, jeffmcgow, Nailer6245, ...

Re: FPL Cup 2018
Yes. 1 additional round this year. To be fair, a GW rank of 2.1m (as was the intended cutoff at the start of the season) would see 62% of teams eliminated before the first round.

Re: FPL Cup 2018
GW 17 last year was carnage. My worst GW of last season, 3.8 mln GR. I crashed out in the preliminary round.
The best performance was to get through 7 or 8 rounds. I was eliminated at the beginning of February.

I had a nice cup run last season, round 6/7 iirc. Wouldn't be that confident I could go so far this year though. Taken an 8 point hit to get Hazard in so let's see if I can qualify!

Re: FPL Cup 2018
If I recall it right, hits don't reduce your points in gameweek rank. If you take hits of -8 points and then score 50 points, you will get 50 points affecting your gameweek rank, not 42 points. Hits only affect your gameweek rank as a tiebreaker against teams with the equal points. In other words, if anyone wants to improve his chances to qualify, then just take loads of hits to get a super team for GW16RuudTheDudeVanTheMan wrote: ↑04 Dec 2017, 12:53 I had a nice cup run last season, round 6/7 iirc. In Cup rounds instead hits will reduce your points in a match against your Cup opponent.
Someone may want to clarify whether all of this is correct.

Actually Transfers are used as GR tiebreaker between teams with equal pointsBobMem wrote: ↑04 Dec 2017, 13:18I'm pretty sure everything you've said is correct there.Finisher1 wrote:If I recall it right, hits don't reduce your points in gameweek rank. Transfers are NOT the same thing as Hits
You can have 0 Hits in a GW, and still have 0, 1 or even 2 Transfers made (if you had saved a FT in the GW before)
in a GW two teams scored equal points and took no hits, but one made 1 Transfer while the other none
the one who made no transfer will be ranked ahead the one who took 1, in that GW Rank
Go into your Gameweek History:
GR (Gameweek Rank) is based on GP (Gameweek Points), with TM (Transfers Made) as tiebreaker
TC (Transfers Cost) is not counted in any way towards GR, only deducted from OP

What is the secondary tiebreaker after Transfers Made?

Re: FPL Cup 2018
none
teams with equal GP and equal TM have equal GR
GW15 example
YourMumsModesty https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/team/35219/event/15
3 TM, costing him 1 hit
andybarrell https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/team/4345/event/15
3 TM, costing him 2 hits
both have the same 178,694 GR, despite having different TC, and PB, OP, OR, Team Value, everything else
because they have the same GP and TM

Does the qualification look at the Overall Rank as at GW16, or look at just the one Gameweek Rank for GW16?

Re: FPL Cup 2018
It's based on this game week not on your overall position Jason -
"The top 4,194,304 scorers in Gameweek 16 will enter the first round. If there are more than 4,194,304 qualifiers then there will be a random draw amongst the lowest scorers to see who qualifies."
Did you do okay? I grovelled up to 39 points and scraped in

Draws been made. I'm against a 2.7m dead team with Redmond and Kante in the midfield and a injury hit bench. His differentials are KDB and Lukaku (C) so should qualify.

I'm against an opponent who got 77 points in GW16. Very strong team. He doesn't take hits in transfers. It'll be a tough one for me.
