Seems to be lots of info about this - an outcry no less - hobbyists like ourselves across the web have been effected - fantasy footie, train spotters, bloggers and even the Bronies have had some magic dust taken away - what are we to do.

edit: GDrive works (with a bit a url editing) so at least it's an option...

Ah, it's nice to be back at the Rounded Keeper and to see so many regulars.

Whilst it was shut for business I had to pitch up at that new craft beer pub that's opened up over the road, you know, The Hitsville Tavern. No one wants to end up there but plenty do. I mean, it's ok. The people who run it are lovely. Mr I.N.Jury is a fine landlord and Mrs Smith née, Jerk who runs the bar is great too. But even though they have pints of Anderton's on tap and Jones's crisps, nothing compares to Gretchen. Oh and they don't show the football over there.

I'm not an expert, but my google Drive has drive.google.com domain
your URL has docs.google.com instead, which on my PC says it's Google Documents and it's supposed to hold and display TEXT documents....
if I try to drag or paste a jpg there, it doesn't allow me to

and it works from Drive, but not from Photos
if I get the link after opening the file from Drive, it adds /file/d/ inbetween
if I get the link from the Drive direcotry, it doesn't, and uses open?id=, which still doesn't work as hotlink

so in my case the correct hotlink url format is https://drive.google.com/uc?export=open&id=
which I have tho to edit manually as google doesn't provide it automatically

hmm... after all it's about google, so I Googled "Google drive hotlink" and found several hits, for instance

actually I left it on Anyone with the link and not Public on the web
and it works the same with both export=open and export=view

actually it can be done from Photos too, but you have to view it inside the Photos album (not from the Drive menu)
and Copy Image Address thru right-click... (not from the Share Link menu options)

At least you had the craft beer. I was as the local Whetherspoon-fed, mostly with guys from FFS. Witnessed a lot of AOAs I can tell you.
