Midfielders between 6.0 & 7.5

Hi All, decided to get a bit more into fantasy football this year after winning out of my friendship group last season. After reading through the forum and taking lots of the good advice, I've come up with my draft so far of who I want to have.

For midfielders between 6.0 and 7.5, I'm really interested in finding space for Wijnaldum but I haven't seen him mentioned anywhere. Is there any reason to avoid him that I'm missing?

He's 7m and got 149 points last season (exactly the same as Zaha who is also 7m), played 2974 mins last season, scored 6 and assisted 9. Seems like a solid return on 7?

I see a lot of people wanting Zaha, but not Wijnaldum, why is this? Surely Wijnaldum is more consistent when take in the previous season aswell?

2016/17: Zaha 149 v 149 Wijnaldum
2015/16: Zaha 85 v 170 Wijnaldum

Wijnaldum becomes a viable option at the start of the season if Keita hasn't signed. If he's brought in though, I can only assume his gametime becomes even more limited.

I see. I didn't realise that was a possibility. I will leave him in for now then, but will re-assess before the start of the season

One other thing to consider regarding his lower % selected by is the fact that a lot of people may already be using Mane/Coutinho/Salah and don't want to double up on midfielders. Or may even have three preferred L'pool options (Firmino, Salah, Mane, Coutinho, Lallana, Milner, Clyne, there's a good number of options available in their squad).

I have Wijnaldum in my Watchlist...alongside Lallana at 7.5...

Currently have Mkhi Ramsey Willian in my team and if one of them disapoints i can change and go for Lallana or Wijna ; after watching a few games we'll know more as usual...

Even now, when Henderson is fit it could be tough for Gini to push someone out of

Mane, Firmino, Salah

Lallana or Henderson?

Henderson is captain and has a better range of passing than Gini.

Lallana was key last season in making Coutinho, Firmino and Mane tick.

But if I was to put money on it, maybe Lallana.

Wouldn't be massively surprised if Firmino ducked out too (with Salah or Mane stepping in to the false 9 role). Firmino was pretty average/indifferent from mid-December onwards.

Maybe worn out from playing most games and minutes whilst the rest of the quartet had a spell out injured.

Not sure long term Winjaldum would be preferred to play as the traditional midfielder over, say, Can.

I'm not really even sure Winjaldum was ever just a traditional midfielder for Liverpool. Played a similar role to Lallana who arguably did the role better.

That's why Liverpool is such a conundrum.

I say two of Can, Henderson and Gini play.

Willian and Redmond seen to be great value early on. I like Fabregas too but don't fancy two Chelsea midfielders from the start.

Agree and for these reasons, Can is third wheel in the back of the midfield, and Lallana fifth wheel up front.

Yup he's been in my draft since day 1 and will be a permanent fixture.

Currently weighing up whether to go for Fabregas too!

Firmino is one that really got the trust from Klopp. Klopp loves Firmino. Mané might play up front at some times, but not so often.

Straight line running doesn't mean anywhere near fit. He has to progress to full speed sprints, running with twists and turns and then sprints with twists and turns. And then he can begin pre-season if there are no negative reactions.

Chelsea don't currently expect him back till after the international break (so GW4). That's far enough away to be imprecise but it's the estimate. It's unlikely to be much earlier but could also be a few weeks later.

currently on Mkhi Ramsey Alli Willian Carroll playing 352 with Kane Lukaku up front and Alonso Trippier Cédric behind...
2 playing 4.5 defs on the bench and 0.5 itb for flexibility...

if i get rid of Alonso (for Lindelof) i guess the 1.5 saved will go to Phillips instead of Carroll

He was really good two seasons ago, and apparently his underlying stats were good last season, and he's got really good abs, I like the look of him.

Seems that there are going to be a lot of similar teams this season with Lukaku, Jesus, Kane, Willian, Tadic, Trippier, Foster and Heaton.

I personally like Arnie in this bracket, but depends if he is fit for the first game.
