Re: £4.0m/£4.5m defensive gems - 2017/18
I'm thinking Wimmer, mainly because of Stoke's run and the fact that often with a new manager the player's get a bit of a boost... Maybe I'm being too optimistic. He's managed one clean sheet in 13 or so starts, but after tomorrow the next 5 or so fixtures I'm guessing 2 possibly 3 clean sheets could be in there.

Holgate is well thought of by Everton fans from what I gather - good fixtures, 4.3, he's on my radar. Obviously he has these issues looming over him

what did you find out? I'm very interested in their next six GW's (after United), get the right manager and there is definitely potential for an upturn in form with those fixtures.Billy Bongo wrote: ↑14 Jan 2018, 22:10 I've just done some research on the lad Edwards at Stoke

The reports I read said he's been very impressive and is first choice right back

Need to swap out Christensen for a £4.3 or less to fund DCL Firmino.
Was thinking Francis. Have Otamendi and Alonso and would just choose one each week from Francis, Kenny and Dunk. Good option or anything better out there? Saw his fixtures were pretty good in the medium term.

Haven`t Stoke transfered in Moritz Bauer from Rubin Kazan? He would be a direct contendor for that spot.Billy Bongo wrote: ↑15 Jan 2018, 06:30 The reports I read said he's been very impressive and is first choice right back

Have him in my team since gw12 WC for a whooping 7 points in 12 gw! Don't go there is my advice, I'm desperate to have a spare FT to take him out.

Not sure where else to look for that money. Was thinking he would only just sit on my bench and come on for emergencies and fixtures are pretty good. Other options was Tomkins or Kelly at Palace but their fixtures look pretty dreadful. Can’t be that bad for defender number 5? Any other suggestions?Albert_ini wrote: ↑15 Jan 2018, 09:35Have him in my team since gw12 WC for a whooping 7 points in 12 gw! Btw, I believe Kelly loses his place to Ward when fit.
Dummett or Wimmer at 4.2m may come in for me this week.

Holgate would be my choice but seeing as you already have Kenny, maybe Tomkins, Chilwell, Bardsley or Dummett. All these from better defences than Bournemouth's.

Francis is a big rotation risk, when afcb play a back 4 which is more likely in the upcoming games against lower placed opposition I suspect he may be on the bench for some if not most the games.Highlander12 wrote: ↑15 Jan 2018, 09:37Not sure where else to look for that money. I already have the Palace keeper double up so I wouldn't pick Tomkins myself but if you want certainty of starts, which is what I'd be looking for, he's the best pick at the sub-4.5 range IMO

Re: £4.0m/£4.5m defensive gems - 2017/18
I don’t know too much about Chilwell? Don’t need a starter this week just a reliable player to come off the bench if needed, not sure he is reliable?
Holgate would have been a good option but no point if I have Kenny. Dummet is interesting, is he nailed?
What about Cameron? Good fixtures and new manager. Maybe it’s Dummett, Cameron or Tomkins then. Cameron better fixtures but I guess any will do. Dummet saves 0.1m which could be valuable.

Unorthodox cheapie option could be arranged with a LIV double up using TAA and Gomez. They tend to play 90mins or no mins. That means of course a probable non-playing defender on your bench, but with their fixtures it could be worth it if one can not stretch to VVD or Matip.

Re: £4.0m/£4.5m defensive gems - 2017/18
I think Bardsley's run in the team could be about to end. He was poor on Saturday after being at fault for Liverpool's late winner in his previous game and Lowton should replace him soon.Albert_ini wrote: ↑15 Jan 2018, 09:50 Holgate would be my choice but seeing as you already have Kenny, maybe Tomkins, Chilwell, Bardsley or Dummett. The stats are dark and full of errors.
Re: £4.0m/£4.5m defensive gems - 2017/18
Trouble is using up a Liverpool spot on a non-player (i.e. the one who doesn't play) when Salah, Mane, Firmino are all desirable too.Desperado wrote: ↑15 Jan 2018, 10:18 Unorthodox cheapie option could be arranged with a LIV double up using TAA and Gomez. Valid point Mav. I don’t think this kind of setup would be useful long term anyhow since gw28 makes the depth of our benches even more important. Just came a cross a team like this and it was interesting and has obviously worked well recently with TAA starting and gomez autosubbing in when needed.

Re: £4.0m/£4.5m defensive gems - 2017/18
It's an excellent idea, it's just a shame that it's not happening at a club with less attacking players. In draft this kind of strategy is followed a lot.Desperado wrote: ↑15 Jan 2018, 13:25Valid point Mav. Re: £4.0m/£4.5m defensive gems - 2017/18
thought Robertson was outstanding yesterday, when is Moreno back?
I know Moreno hit a bit of form but never really rated him, Robertson looks like he could make the position his own.

I’ve just seen Danny Simpson is back in training. As I don’t need him for the next couple of GWs, surely he’s the man to go to for £4.3m and under with Leicester’s fixtures?Highlander12 wrote: ↑15 Jan 2018, 10:08 I don’t know too much about Chilwell? Re: £4.0m/£4.5m defensive gems - 2017/18
Interested what people think - I was about to pull the trigger as a downgrade for Daniels but noticed Palace have 4 players red flagged... surely he'll be bench fodder when they start to come back? 4.4 for a fifth choice defender who doesn't play could be too much.
I like TFM as Palace seem to be on the up, and he looks good for bonus with the occasional assist perhaps.
My safer option is Dummett, who I don't expect to return much, but I suppose he's okay to sit on the bench 90% of the time.
