Have checked and Nani WAS the top scorer in 2010/11. Even more surprising was the person who came 2nd that year....any guesses (or comments on the list generally)?dino1980 wrote:It did get me thinking though, where is Sanchez compared to the top points scorer in each season?
(sources: https://fpldiscovery.files.wordpress.co ... mteams.jpg (02/03 to 13/14) and FPL site (15/16 and 16/17)

15/16: Mahrez: 240
14/15: Aguero: 216 (this could be wrong but it's what google tells me)
13/14: Suarez - 295
12/13: RVP - 262
11/12: RVP - 260
10/11: Nani - 198 (really? anyone know any diferent? This seems an outlier)
09/10: Lampard - 284
08/09: Lampard - 226
07/08: Cristiano - 283
06/07: Cristiano - 244

Re: Historic FPL top scorers
I remember in the old consistant FISOers thread from a few years ago that there was a weird anomaly that a ridiculously high proportion of those managers had had easily their worst season in 10/11.
Nani being top scorer goes a long way to explaining it.

I can't remember if Darren Bent's 27 goal season was that year?
Weird Chelsea might be a call too. Was that the mythical year of Florent Malouda per chance?

IIRC that was the season Blackpool and Birmingham had a DGW. For that week I had Campbell and Zigic up front and I think I captained Zigic who got 0 or 1 points in that DGW.From4corners wrote:Was just going to write that as well! Him and DJ Campbell were on fire!

If it was the year of Blackpool then Charlie Adam can't have been miles off, another nice shout.
Can't quite see him coming second though.

Consolation prize goes to Paulista.....my research also threw up the fact that Fabregas was joint highest scorer with Lampard on 284 in 2009/10.Paulista wrote:Fabregas?Archy wrote:Nope no one close so far lol....it is a midfielder though....

Amazing, nice one Mav.
Some fantastic alternative guesses too - shows how old we all are.
I'm just glad del Horno debacle eventually got lost in the ether. The veteran generation's Boselli.

Re: Historic FPL top scorers
Ha, he was one of the real folklore characters from around the time I started fantasy football. Certainly it was before my own FPL days, I was a TFF guy for a few years before I saw the light.
My memory is very hazy, but I believe he basically came in to Chelsea, started like a freight train with CSs, goals and assists. Then just as every man and his dog got him in in the first few weeks games only for him to be ridiculously heavily rotated all season from then on.
I'm sure there are those who remember better than me. I can't even remember if I lived it or if I started the following season and just swam in the aftermath, it was that long ago, but it was certainly infamous for years afterwards in FPL and TFF.
