Conte's line on the matter:
"On Tuesday, Diego stopped training with a pain in his back and then in the week he didn’t train with us."

Carroll the stand in got a goal and a yellow so it was a perfect cover

Re: Diego Costa - what now?
I have just got back from a 3 day bike rally with no internet reception to this news. Costa has dropped $ and will drop more it seems. I cannot afford Kane as a direct replacement and I am not a Giroud fan.
Changing my formation and strengthening my mid field is an option, but only 10.5 to play with and have to sell one of my cheap points makers as well.
Do I hang onto him and see how it goes or sell now and buy back if it looks likely he will stay before the price rise?
The points he could get next week are tempting me and the weekend entertainment at the rally has addled my brain so it looks like he will stay for now.
Time will tell if this is another one of my bad choices

I'm guessing that you normally play a 3-5-2 with Carroll as a 6.2M sub then? Or did you transfer Costa out for Carroll this week?math! wrote:Carroll the stand in got a goal and a yellow so it was a perfect cover

Re: Diego Costa - what now?
I changed my mind again. Sold Costa, Snodgrass (who had a hard schedule coming up)and Adam. Gone 442 so brought in Sanchez to strengthen midfield , Crouch as cover for the two first pick strikers and Hajbjerj as an extra sub. I know I will regret this.Oxford NZ wrote:I have just got back from a 3 day bike rally with no internet reception to this news. Costa has dropped $ and will drop more it seems. Re: Diego Costa - what now?
I'm buying him - direct replacement for Aguero. The guy couldn't cope with English, so what do you expect about Chinese? He's not going there, definitely. He's not going anywhere mid-season, that's for sure.
On the other hand - not a big risk for me as this gameweek I have to bench Defore as it seems (surely not benching Sanchez, Phillips, Stanislas, Lallana or Alli). If he plays - it's very likely he'll get a big haul against Hull. If he doesn't play, well - then comes on Defoe.
I'm pulling the trigger - this game is a gamble

Re: Diego Costa - what now?
95% of the way to a fourth drop in four days according to FPLS and due to drop tonight according to Fantasy football fix. Still being sold.
Will consider bringing him back in for 10.3 if the news leans towards buying him rather than keeping Giroud later this week.

Re: Diego Costa - what now?
Thinking about hopping around the main strikers for next few games:
Lukaku to Costa this week (Costa, Giroud, Aguero)
Costa to Kane next.week
Giroud to.Lukaku two weeks later
This assumes Giroud and Costa both being fit and in.favour, that I don't lose faith in Aguero, and I don't change my mind.

Re: Diego Costa - what now?
Original plan was Kun to Costa this week...is it daft to still do this ?
He may get the game against Hull and if so could do some real damage, whereas Kun has Spurs.
It's a bit of an insurance policy really, if he doesn't play then I'm in the same boat as most

I'm sticking with him for the Hull game for that reason.jacksosi wrote:Original plan was Kun to Costa this week...is it daft to still do this ?

The next two fixtures are difficult for Chelsea so I'll probably ditch him after the Hull game anyway.
It's just a piss take how much he has dropped.

if he gets 5 mins off the bench as is likely - they won without him and Conte will want to make a point about who's in charge there - then your boat will not only be worse than most, but will probably be sinking.jacksosi wrote:Original plan was Kun to Costa this week...is it daft to still do this ? Re: Diego Costa - what now?
I had him since GW1, stubbornly held for this Hull game.
If he starts on the bench (even if he comes on) or looks sulky or fans boo him or anything untoward I will bin him. I didn't feel the need to rush to Kane this week with them playing City.
My real issue is deciding on swapping Aguero, which I think I will be doing
