Suspension tightrope
Diego Costa is definitely going to take a yellow card in GW9 to trigger his EFL escape chance to avoid EPL suspension. And just like that the silly Costa bandwagon just gets out of prison while 95% of its members probably never had an idea about this suspension rule.

Re: Suspension tightrope
Yup and nothing you can do about it. I got rid GW6 because of the yellow cards mounting up and the upcoming ban but that looked a woeful move.
Only positive is he will lose the owners 1 point -_-

I'm in the 5% . Not sure why it's a silly bandwagon when he's the top scoring forward in the game (joint top overall with Theo) and looking back to his best/Atletico type form?Finisher1 wrote:Diego Costa is definitely going to take a yellow card in GW9 to trigger his EFL escape chance to avoid EPL suspension. Well it could end up costing him -4 points. On his way to 3 bonus and the late YC forces him out of bonuses. Who knows?cesc408 wrote:Only positive is he will lose the owners 1 point -_-

Re: Suspension tightrope
Costa 4/7 to get a card with Skybet, 8/13 with Betfred. Free money?

That's not a very generous minded post. You're the sort of bloke who thinks it unfair that someone who falls from a great height suffers no significant injury because they were asleep at the time and therefore completely relaxed.Finisher1 wrote:Diego Costa is definitely going to take a yellow card in GW9 to trigger his EFL escape chance to avoid EPL suspension. Re: Suspension tightrope
Could Costa get an increased ban if the authorities reckon that he deliberately looked for a YC to serve his suspension in the cup ?
I think there was a similar story a few years back but it was in Champions League.
Agree also that by looking to get a YC Costa could get more than he wishes for...

A player who so far this season has got 4 yellow cards in his first 6 games won't have much trouble arguing that he was just playing his game business as usualmatmutte wrote:Could Costa get an increased ban if the authorities reckon that he deliberately looked for a YC to serve his suspension in the cup ?

Re: Suspension tightrope
They should change the rules so that suspensions are served in the same competition they are earned in.

Re: Suspension tightrope
That was in Amsterdam: Ajax - Real Madrid. During the match Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso (I believe?) were told by Mourinho (no surprise there) to get a yellow card so that they would be suspended for their last group match. Real topped their group and couldn't be catched by any of the other teams. Both Ramos and Alonso picked up their second yellow of the match, got sent off and avoided a suspension in the knock-out phase.matmutte wrote:Could Costa get an increased ban if the authorities reckon that he deliberately looked for a YC to serve his suspension in the cup ?

You should see Suarez' reaction while they were time wasting to get their cards...
