I have 2 ft. So removing Holebas.
I will have this player for two weeks and bring in Baines for him in gw24
There is a possibility that I keep him and swap Pieters for Baines or Amat for Baines depending on available funds and injuries

Why not just save a transfer in 2 weeks time and do Holebas to Baines today? Or are you worried about that yellow flag?

From the 4 defenders you listed, I don't think there is too much difference between them. Middlesbrough have 2 home games so I would maybe lean towards them. (Bournemouth also have two home games against Watford and Palace if you want another option to look at). I have Nyom myself but he has a little uncertainty if he will start today, and if Southampton sign a new centre back next week to replace Fonte, then Yoshida may lose out.

I have 2 ft so its use it or lose it and have no other issues so only want to do one transfer. I cannot afford an ugrade as 0 in the bank.

I am leaning towards Fabio or Chambers.

There are no Bournemouth options at under 4.6

Chambers seems most nailed on. I worry that Friend could take Fabio's place when all are fully fit but Chambers seems to be 1st choice in the back 4.

How many starts do you think Wimmer will get given Spurs injuries at the back?

Yosida maybe a good shout if Van Dyke's injury is bad enough to keep him out a few weeks.

VVD unlikely to play for a couple of months from what I've seen reported. Yoshida becomes a decent 5th defender pick I think.

Only problem with that is its a Southanpton defence without the two central defenders, VVD & Fonte, that made it good.

They do have 4 decent fixtures out of their next 5 games and they just got a clean sheet at Liverpool agaisnt an attack minded Liverpool club.

How nailed on is Yoshida? Assume we'll know better once transfer window closes? If they pick up a new defender, he may be out, but if they stand pat, he's fairly nailed on?

Assuming any new CH brought in would be a Fonte replacement, Yoshida still should be in to cover VVD's injury absence. Last I read they were talking 3 months for VVD. I can't imagine Southampton not replacing Fonte..

If I bring in Yoshida it will be as an Amat + loose change upgrade. A couple of months out of him as a fifth defender, and then look at it again with the pre DGW WC, I would be happy with.

Unsure about Yoshi - serious reshuffle defensively required with their two main CBs now unavailable (Fonte permanently). I'm not convinced they'll keep many clean sheets now. At Anfield should have been 2-2 or 3-3. Therefore I think I'll keep Amat or at least not spend a transfer getting in Yoshida. Transfers will be at a premium over the next 6 weeks. I don't want to take any -4s through my own lack of planning ahead.

Yoshida will miss GW26 but you probably wouldn't have played him against Arsenal anyway.

That's exactly why I wanted Yoshida - as a cheap replacement for Amat, 5th defender who wouldn't play often for me, but would be good for one or two points when called on once in a blue moon, as opposed to Amat, who guarantees me 0 points each week.

What is wrong with Amat? Is he just dropped? Didn't even make the squad on a couple of occasions recently.

I may be forced to bust out AOA this week, with Friend (injured), Holebas (suspended) and Amat (Amat).

Enter........ Marten de Roon.

Since new manager, Clement, stated, he has not played Amat. He just doesn't seem to be in Clement's plans. But, if the team suffers another string of poor games, one never knows who he'll throw in the starting lineup. For now though, it looks like Amat's bench fodder.

Tony Pulis said it would be hard to put a man on De Roon.

He reckons NASA Chadli is his best bet.

Swansea appear to have tightened up under clement making Fernandez a decent D5 option at 4.2m. Southamption let Fonte go and didnt replce him in the transfer window so Yoshida seems value at 4.2m. Koeman playing 3 at the back recently makes Holgate an attractive option at 4.2m.

Some decent options there for not a lot of money.

We get caught up a lot in the blanks, but I don't really think I'd be looking to bring in Holgate or Fernandez just yet, it's got to be worth waiting until you need them.

In terms of budget defenders, I'm looking at Palace's next 4 games. 4.8 is the CRD but that's not too over the top. I'm wondering if there's a chance that 5.0 PVA takes Puncheon's place on the left side of midfield if and when Schlupp plays.

I think Funis Mori (4.6), Pieters (4.6), Nyom/Evans offer good value at the 4.5 price range.
Burnley are good at the back but after next week they have Chelsea, and then four away games in a row.
Middlesbrough, not sure if the boat has been missed, a few tough games coming up and without Chambers.
I'm a bit sour on Holgate now after being hauled off at half time in 2 of the last 4 games. Too risky to start, seems like it could be 6 points or 1.
Yoshida will miss gw26 and likely gw28 too so not on my radar until after that. He is nailed at the moment and will have a DGW later in the season, so he's a wildcard option after GW28.

Lescott joins Sunderland, and the game, at 4.0. He used to grab a few goals, didn't he? Could be a nice gamble if funds are very stretched.

Fernandez a more likely gamble for me for my fifth defender given weeks 36 and 38 fixtures.

Naughton, Fernández and Robertson interest me most. I'll take a view this weekend on which of the Swansea/Hull defences I prefer but either can provide a cheap rotation defender with a game in GW28 and decent fixtures until I wildcard. I expect to switch Pieters out for one of those next week (and to roll the other FT).

Funes Mori is already in my squad.
