Kevin De Bruyne. We need to talk about Kevin

Post by OIEIAO »

Time for this thread to return after 2 goals and 4 assists in 4 games?

Personally I am sticking to hazard and sanchez in my wildcard and only have Kdb in the hope of making a bit of money. I'll have Aguero of course.

My analysis of Kdb I jotted down based on last year's stats:
In 10 starts (plus one sub appearance) from Boxing day onward, either side of his injury, he managed 2 goals and 2 assists. Possibly not the return you'd hope for from a £10.5m player.
Going further back he had 2 stellar weeks in GW14 and 18 (a goal and 2 assists in each) but several frustrating blank games around that. partly let down by man City's form, you might say.

He scored 7 goals this season but 3 of them were between GW5 and 8.

Do maybe others feel that this is a new season, and he'll be a lot better under Pep and playing in a more consistent Man City team?

 Yes, real alternative to Aguero if you can't find the extra.

Would sterling, Kdb and Aguero be overkill?

My only concern is him being rested. Rotation looks less likely, but you never know. He's probably the only premium mid I want right now.

Has to be said that under pep he and sterling look better this season, playing central makes Kdb essential IMO.

I think we should all take a moment to appreciate the thread title. Personally, I think all thread titles about specific players should follow the same format in the future. E.g. "Mesut Ozil. We need to talk about Mesut".

Is there a movie called "We need to talk about Mesut" as well?

nah, he can't be essential at 10.5 if you won't captain him.

Yeah that's the reason I don't intend taking KdB. I don't want a 10.5 that I will never captain. Every City good fixture I'll captain Aguero anyway. He becomes essential when Aguero gets injured if he can maintain his form.

I think KDB probably has better overall points capability due to his set pieces and the (probable) number 10 role in City's lineup with Gundogan. That's a big change in circumstance for him, but there is a small amount of doubt as to how Silva fits back in.

Sanchez from GW7-10 does have just about the perfect fixture run though and city do have other options in Sterling and notably Aguero to offer captaincy options from their games.

I'm on wildcard and have happily pocketed a 0.1 from KDB's price rises, but I think it's sensible to end up on Sanchez and downgrade later back to KDB.

Anyone know how badly he's injured?

And if he's broke is Sanchez the obvious replacement or are the Merseyside posse too good to ignore?

Pep said he'll be assessed tomorrow.

I'm considering KDB  Sanchez and Firmino  Countinho for a -4.

Firmino could get a haul next week, bit of a knee jerk. Unless it releases funds of course.

It releases the funds for Sanchez.

I think I'll switch to Coutinho (already Sanchez owner). He should get a rise or two.

Coutinho might rise tonight. Are we gonna get any info about Kevin's injury before that?

From FFS: Guardiola on KDB "I think he is injured, unfortunately. That’s why we need a big squad because these things happen and it is a long season.”

Do I need to ship him today to avoid losing funds or can I hold till prognosis/absence confirmed?

Or should I have ditched him last night?

Do prices rise/drop every night? In my head I thought it was every Sunday?

Again, could be a copy of above link in terms of rumour but the evidence seems to be there. I see no reason to think he won't miss enough time to ditch him now even with the international break. Guardiola's post-match reaction wasn't in any way positive either.

No confirmation about De Bruyne being out for 4 weeks but lots of reports saying so. Looks like I will have to make the switch to Sanchez before he raises in price tonight. Will have to take a 4 point hit since I have nothing in the bank and would need to make two transfers to bring in Sanchez. Hate to take a hit but should be worth it if De Bruyne really will miss 4 weeks.
