Re: What's your current squad value?
Down to just 101.3 now I've settled on a wildcard team. Hopefully if I've got my decisions right that will be upwardly mobile again soon!

Quite a difference following two weeks and a wildcard.Stemania wrote:A proud 100.5m,with 0.0m in the bank for me.
No wildcard yet, just two transfers before this week, and a bunch of players I was happy with but who had not performed in GW1 so shed a bit of price (e.g. Tadic, Vardy). No Ibra the main source of relatively low TV.
102.0 now, with 0.0m banked again.

Re: What's your current squad value?
With all the wildcard jiggery-pokery I'm at 102.5 now. Happy with that considering I have sold players like Hazard, Ibra & Costa that I had a fair chunk of TV tied up in (about 0.6 lost on selling those three I believe).

102.0 including 0.5 in the bank. Shifting out Pieters is probably the next move. Likely that Francis is the one but he needs to drop in price before Pieters does!

Re: What's your current squad value?
102.1, not too bad after playing the WC a couple of weeks ago.
Have avoided any losses (sell price less than purchase price) so far, but have not been as aggressive as I usually am at this time of the year re jumping early each week to take advantage of price movements.

Re: What's your current squad value?
TV £103.2M (plus £0.5M ITB)
SV £101.3M (plus £0.5M ITB)
Pretty happy with it.
However what interests me is that had I have purchased my current team to begin with it would have cost exactly £100M. So despite a fairly hefty number of transfers I have only actually made £0.5M profit on what I started with. And that profit is ITB so it's not on the pitch earning me points anyway
Which elequantly proves the point that taking a load of hits to make money is counter productive. Sure you can get a better TV and SV but that doesn't mean much on the turf if it costs you a hat full of points to do it

Re: What's your current squad value?
Team value 102.1m (0.5 itb).
Selling worth 100.7m
So does that mean I have made 0.7m or 1.2m as I have 0.5 itb?

How many -4s have you taken? And how many of them were specifically or mostly for TV purposes?Weisenwolf wrote:So despite a fairly hefty number of transfers I have only actually made £0.5M profit on what I started with. And that profit is ITB so it's not on the pitch earning me points anyway

Re: What's your current squad value?
None specifically for TV, that tactic doesn't work, but all my transfers are done with an eye to price rise/fall potential, it's a pretty big part of the game.Mav3rick wrote:How many -4s have you taken? Re: What's your current squad value?
For me there are 2 reasons to take a hit.
First is to jump in a bandwagon to make some money, sell when they begin to stall (ibra and negredo) are examples of that from my team.
Second us to get a player at the best price possible that I expect to keep and build squad around, my example last week was de Bruyne, lukaku, frimino (keepers) capoue (maker).
If de bruyne stayed fit, I would have been pleased with the squad structure and hit, but he got injured so another hit this week to replace him with Sanchez.
I believe more in hits for keeper players rather than money making, but each have their place.
Getting your keeper players in cheap is satisfying, because you will have more room come later in the season to upgrade defence and keep more money in the bank for pressing issues.
Always buying keeper players for higher means less flexibility in the future in return for less hits.
Hits don't always necessarily mean points losses though.

Re: What's your current squad value?
I made a profit on Ibra & Negredo too but that was incidental rather than deliberate. I also made a profit on Barkley, Hazard and even De Bryne and they were deliberately purchased because I though they would earn good points short term AND give me a chance of some profit when I sold them. The generally sensible policy is to only take a hit to avoid a drop but, like most players, I'm not always that sensibleWillij5 wrote:For me there are 2 reasons to take a hit.

Neither.Willij5 wrote:Team value 102.1m (0.5 itb).

So does that mean I have made 0.7m or 1.2m as I have 0.5 itb?
You are up £2.6M by the TV measure, £1.2M by the SV measure and the third one which is at least as useful (PV perhaps we should call it) is to work out is what purchasing your team at their starting price would have cost and adding your ITB to that. This is the most real measure of 'profit'
How well your doing financially is a combination of all three of those numbers.

Wow, someone is playing the TV game well, a full 1.2 more than me!Weisenwolf wrote:£104.1M TV
104.1 is only 0.1 off the top 5 most valuable teams in the entire game . Teams in that region are usually taking -8 or -12 every gameweek so if you've got to that level without many hits then that really is excellent play.

Re: What's your current squad value?
Hey Mav, I'm no clevercloggss, I've taken -28 in hits so a lot less, but it may be a daft plan. Howeverv if the early hits line my FPL pockets for 30 weeks with more beer tokens than most who knows obviously there is a potential train crash in there and it probably puts me out of the market for the top ten but I'm not aiming for that anyway IMav3rick wrote:Wow, someone is playing the TV game well, a full 1.2 more than me!Weisenwolf wrote:£104.1M TV
