A.Gray one goal and an assist yet is 4th place in the BPS. what.

Post by ZeroRemorse »

2-0 win, Gray involved in both goals and very dangerous, was not carded, is ranked 4th in the BPS. I understand Heaton being ahead of him, he had a great game, but come on.. 1 goal and an assist in a 2-0 win, what sort of ridiculous bullshit system is this?

You seen\read them?

I haven't seen\read them, but could be decidedly "bringing the game into disrepute"

They was from years ago. Unfortunately you can't leave anything in the past if your a pro footballer.

On the BP it's pretty unlucky for him to miss out

How is he missing out on bps when he was MOTM.. goal and assist. Very odd.

He actually played well today. Anyways, it still has Gray on 1bp.

1 point is ridiculous after a MotM performance and scoring a goal and assisting the other in a 2-0 win.

Nobody here saw the game did they?

As for Gray's tweets, I'd be very surprised and disappointed if the PL/FA can punish him for something he did 4 and a half years ago.

Yep you looked good, ditto Watford and ripe for staying up, imho.

Not so sure about the latter, though, if they are as bad as they sound.

While his tweets are pretty dire, what on earth would they have to do with awarding or not awarding him bonus points

I was there, I know how good we looked (and how bad Liverpool were).

Not sure Gray deserves any BPs under the current system, and he wasn't MOTM for me. Heaton also didn't do anything outstanding, he didn't need to.

It doesn't matter how bad the tweets are, surely they can't punish Burnley for something he did when he was at Hinckley Town.

I typically don't complain about BPS but this one is a head scratcher. I get Heaton being above him, but Vokes? An assist is worth 9 bonus points meaning Vokes somehow made up 11 points elsewhere. I can't see it.

Gray had 7 recoveries to 2 for Vokes. That should be +2 for Gray.
Vokes did have 2 net successful dribbles. That is +2 for Vokes.
Vokes scored the winning goal so that is +3.
Gray had one foul to 0 for Vokes. So that is -1.
Gray had one shot off target to 0 for Vokes. Again -1.
Gray was dispossed 8 times, Vokes 4. So that is +4 for Vokes.

Combines, that is +9 for Vokes. He should at best be tied with Gray. So somewhere else there is a -2 that I can't see with FFS stats. Maybe Gray was tackled a couple more times that didn't show up as dispossession? No idea.

At least he is on point for 1. Could be worse I guess.

29 bps with a goal and assist, and -3 bps last week. I'm afraid he's an anti-bonus magnet.

I think you are doing your lot a disservice there. Exploited Pool's defensive fragility and stopped their (not inconsiderable) attacking threat.

Good luck for staying up etc as I like\respect what Burnley have done - unlike my once beloved Ipswich...

How is Boyd playing?

I'd be prepared for the worst re Gray, those Tweets should have been zapped long ago, as "Social Media" is so despicable

Thanks blah. I too thought we were excellent, but Liverpool probably should have done better to break us down, especially with the genius Klopp in charge

Boyd was my MOTM today, he was outstanding.

Yes, the tweets are worrying, but they've been there for 4 and a half years, why have they only just come to light today. It wouldn't be a bitter scouse journo digging them up would it?

I remember him from an Ipswich Peterbro tonking a fair few years ago, and Burnley have put a work ethic into his silky skills - didn't he run further than anyone else in Prem last time you were there? I bet the Peterbro lot were gobsmacked.

Reckon he is worth an FF punt?

Liverpool (probably) have the best attacking unit in the Prem and created little?

Relegation this season will be interesting, but as above I doubt you will be involved with the players, spirit and Dyche, who has kicked on since Watford?

I'd steer clear of Boyd for FF tbh. He's much more defensive these days. I'm sure he'll pop up with the odd goal/assist, but there are better options at his price.

Credit to Burnley, but it was predictable considering LFC pattern of results in the last 7 years. One week they will thrash Man City then the following week follow that result up with a stinker vs Scunthorpe United, typical.

If his tweets were current, then he would almost certainly face a suspension from the FA (like Huth last year). However, as you say, it would be surprising if the FA took action for tweets from 4 years ago.

On the other hand, in contrast to you, I would be disappointed if he doesn''t face any sanction. 1. The tweets are absolutely beyond the pale. These aren't those kind of tweets that are simply politically incorrect. They are hateful and arguably inciting hate. People face criminal charges for similar. 2. It wasn't like he was a teenager or a kid when he made them. 3. There were a number of them, not just a tweet or two. *

I would like to see his employer punish him. At the very least, he has brought his employer into disrepute.

*EDIT: Reading more into this, it's not clear how many tweets there were, nor how many were as bad as the one that is being widely quoted. So perhaps point 3 is moot.

He was just 20 when the widely quoted tweet was made, so pretty much a kid. I'm not sure who his employer was at the time, but he was playing for Hinckley Utd. Do you think it would be fair if your employer punished you or something you did 3 years before they employed you?

As I already said, these tweets must have been in the public domain for 4 years and he's been a professional footballer for most of that time, why have they only come to light now?
