Same for me. He's captain at the moment, and I'm sure he will be top of the scoring odds and FFS projections, but I'd like to have seen something encouraging from the Everton game.

I think Spurs deserve another chance so I'll probably keep it on him, but I do have some options.

Well that's not exactly true is it? Ultimately the way you make ground is by outscoring other players, regardless of what the polls say before the event. In fact, you can make up even more ground if the vast majority captain the favourite and you pick someone different who outscores him. Agreed, the favourite is usually the favourite for a good reason. Again, it's about picking your moments.

Like Mané, for example?
Yes you are correct, you would make ground but not significantly. Mane is an excellent pick - as shown by the last game week of last season

Edit: unfortunately not anymore..

Can't quite shake the Firmino temptation..

As an Aguero and Hazard owner, it's whether I have the balls for an early punt or not..

Come join the dark side

I also own both and still going for Firmino.

You mean the first 60 or 70 mins until Everton became knackered?

Update: After Aguero's performance against Steaua mid-week I can't not give him the arm band. Penalties aside, he's in fine form.

Aguero for me. He's obviously in form, even if Steaua are a poor side, and its early in the season when he seems fresh.

The talk of worry about an early kick off for your captain does hold merit with many players, but not with Kun. From memory his 5 goals last year against Newcastle, and his 4 vs Spurs the year before were both on early kick offs.

I don't spend £13m on a player to not captain him against a mid table side.

Then again, I own Carroll and quite fancy him........

This is a little off topic but surely this is nothing more than superstition? Are there any stats to demonstrate that there are fewer goals in kick-offs earlier in the game week? I accept that it's annoying to go into the rest of the GW knowing you have had a bad captain score, but taken in isolation, aren't the probabilities the same whether early middle or late? It's never been a valid reason for me to choose one captain over another, not compared to form and fixture.

Don't know about the Spurs match but the 5 v Newcastle was a 3pm kickoff.

I've gone Aguero for now. Have both Ibra and Hazard, and normally biased toward home fixtures, but City seem to be on form

Yep, you are correct, hadn't looked it up. The Spurs game was a 12,45, but the Newcastle was indeed a normal kick off.

I have a feeling that Kelechi Iheanacho might get a start this GW2 ... quite a few reasons there for Pep, Aguero & Citeh to do that.
Even if he starts, there might be a demand to spread the wealth with Silva, Sterling, Nolito and the others in scoring, perhaps even from Aguero's pov.

Thus, I'm giving the armband to Ibra (early game or not) and the VC spot to Hazard.

Aguero for me. Regular rests right at the start of the season are not usually what players need at all. He'll miss the second leg of that CL qualifier I assume.

So I expect he'll stay on until the game is won, or 90 minutes again. I know Pep likes to rotate but if he starts that kind of thing regularly with Kun, I think he loses the title...Aguero gets plenty of rest with his injuries and Kun himself knows it 8-)

I have Hazard and Agüero, but am going for Firmino. Hope he does his job just like he did at Norwich last season.

Sanchez for me - scored a hat trick in this fixture last year and Leicester's defence is not what it was with Kante.

Nope, I'm adamant he's going to play and score a hattrick.

debating between Aguero and Ibra. I may just stick with Aguero again, man city will start scoring 3-4 goals a game soon.
