Who To Bench Thread 2016/17

Post by Razorback »

Doesn't look like this season's thread has been started so hopefully it's okay for me to get this up & running.

Need to bench one of the following for GW1

Baines (TOT -A)
Deulofeu (TOT -A)
McAuley (CRY - A)

McAuley has the easiest fixture on paper but as it doesn't feel right to bench either of my Everton players opinions on the above scenario would be much appreciated.

Everton are at home 1st game...

Tricky but i personally think Everton have more chance of conceding then WBA, but Baines possibly has more chance of attacking returns

I've gone Evans over Baines.

Edit. Also got Foster in goal so may switch to Baines just for a spread.

Mulling over whether to start Friend at home to Stoke, or Evans away to Palace. Leaning towards Friend atm. I think Palace will score.

Yep, McAuley offers a possible clean sheet but not much more than that, Baines is my team because potentially he could be relatively fixture proof this season (if both he and Everton live up to expectations  ).

Same here & don't have so much confidence in their defence that I feel like doubling up unless it's an absolute necessity...

Noticed someone else playing an early chip so why not.

For All Out Attack, who to bench out of:

Morgan (HUL), Valencia (BOU) and Stones (SUN).

If I settle on my current draft, I'll probably be benching Alli, Barkley or Evans - any thoughts?

Right, if you're contemplating benching Terry home to W Ham you shouldn't have him. Pick a cheaper rotator and invest the money elsewhere (or bank it) would be my advice. If I had to pick who to bench, it would be Friend as Terry offers an attacking threat.

Ditto, similarly all of Razor's, although Macauley is cheap.

I assume people think I'm nuts for playing an early chip then?

it's not about playing it early in this case, but why would you play it when there's a big chance that you'll get 3 CSs out of those 3 defenders?

Take your point. Considering a midfield of Fischer, Feghouli, Hazard, Redmond and Mane though.

May just bench Feghouli for the first game instead.

I would think of McAuley as being one of the most likely CB scorers in the game myself - he scores a lot of goals for Northern Ireland - he's probably underscored at WBA so far

I'm starting Friend and benching Evans along with Amat.
Does that seem the most likely thing to do?

Absolutely. Only reason to take a 5.5 defender is because he is lights out at home and against smaller teams on road. If you are scared of West Ham with a most likely non-starting Payet then I think you should look elsewhere.

Unsure myself, and with no input yet from here, I looked at some odds...

Alli to score: 3.4
Barkley to score: 4.0
WB to keep clean sheet: 3.3

I think it put Alli above Barkley, as I don't think Barkley is that much more likely that Alli to get an assist. But what about Evans? A CS is only worth 4 points, and may or may not attract bonus too - whereas a goal for a midfielder is more likely to attract bonus isn't it? Think I'll sub Evans out and Barkley in. Too many glasses of wine consumed to do this properly anyway. But I've got an early start tomorrow so won't be able to tinket tomorrow morning...

Incidentally, does anyone know a bookie that gives odds on assists (whatever the definition is)? Or even better, FPL points?

I'd bench McAuley.

1. As was said above, Everton are in fact at home for GW1 and while it's probably more likely that Spurs will wreck Baines' clean sheet he has a much higher chance of nicking an assist that McAuley.

2. Deulofeu has been noted as a potential big points magnet as he's playing higher up the pitch than his classification would otherwise indicate so I'd say you'd be kicking yourself if you benched him and he scored a bucket of points.

I'd play all three, however, if you're looking at attacking potential alone I'd say Stones.

I need to bench one of:
Valencia (bou) (3-4-3)
Firminho (ars) (4-3-3)
Carroll (che) (4-4-2)
Predictions say bench Carroll, brain can't believe that. Which one would you bench?

None of those.

Admittedly I have Ayew on the bench and Wickham starting, but Coleman may be injured.....

I know, it doesn't make sense does it?
Others to be considered include
Stones (will he start?)
Redmond (OOP, good fixture)
That help?
