Penalty takers
Many people here are saying that Rooney will take Man United penalties and Vardy will take Leicester penalties. And that is probably the most likely outcome, I'm not going to deny that.
But I'd say there is a decent chance Ibrahimovic or Mahrez would take them. Man United surely want to give Ibrahimovic a great start (for example scoring his first goal as soon as possible or fulfilling his hattrick) and Leicester may want to give Mahrez some early goal as well to boost his confidence early. Vardy also missed his (latest?) penalty last season, and it's not a long ago when Mahrez was actually their number one option.
Obviously their presumed best penalty taker will be on penalty duties if the match is still undecided, but if the match is already won, then I think there will be those other factors too.
Of course it's just guesswork, but I think it's still worth for some discussion because after all many fantasy decisions are just guesswork. So I'd like to hear your opinions too.

I do think Rooney will be on penalties. If anyone needs that extra confidence, it's him and not Ibra. A very decent penalty taker too.
I also expect Vardy to remain taking them as well. Mahrez missed twice in a row in crucial games.

Arsenal will be interesting - Cazorla is our no.1 taker but missed recently in a friendly, and he may not be on the pitch. Giroud is a decent taker and is the 2nd choice, Think everybody in the club will be ahead of Mesut

Who's on pen for Crystal?
FFT shows 1st penalty taker is Cabaye. But last pre-season's taker was Wickham. I am seriously thinking of Wickham. Any info for this?

Last pre-season's penalty taker was Jedinak. Wickham missed his penalty, then scored 2, could go for a hattrick whilst still on the field, but Jedinak scored the second pen.zjjsky23@hotmail.com wrote:FFT shows 1st penalty taker is Cabaye. Re: Who's on pen for Crystal?
Um, no. Wickham had his penalty saved, ball came back to his feet, scored on the rebound. Then he came off minutes before Palace got the second penalty so he was off the pitch when Jedinak took it. My guess would be that he is ahead of Jedinak in the pecking order. I would still say both are behind Cabaye.Joccki_10 wrote:Last pre-season's penalty taker was Jedinak. Average last season was 4.55. Leicester had most with 13, city next with 8, Norwich the least with 1. (United had 3 ).Weisenwolf wrote:How many penalties does the average team (So not ManU) get in a season
So varies quite a bit.

Re: Penalty takers
As a Palace fan, I can confirm 100% that Cabaye is first choice on penalties.
Wickham scored one penalty last season at Stoke when Cabaye wasn't playing and from a rebound after missing one against Valencia on Saturday when again Cabaye wasn't playing.
Wickham will be second choice but he missed on Saturday. Jedinak took the next one we got as Wickham was off. If Cabaye isn't playing, Jedinak may pull rank (although he's not our captain anymore) and take the next one because Wickham missed. If none of these players are on the pitch, I would expect Puncheon to take it and hopefully not repeat what he did at Spurs a couple of seasons ago.

Re: Penalty takers
I called it right with Mahrez/Vardy, so I suppose I'm now the official penalty specialist in FISO
Now I read from FFS twitter feed:
fantasyfootballscout @FFScout 2 min2 minuuttia sitten
Guardiola on Aguero penalties“I'm happy to let him carry on but will leave it up to the players for the next one.”
What do you think this means? Yaya and Bony won't play, so I guess the next in line is De Bruyne or Kolarov (in case Aguero lets someone else to take them, which is a real chance in my opinion)?
Has Silva ever taken a penalty?

David Silva has only taken 1 penalty in his football career which was against Southampton in 2012 and was saved by Kelvin Davis.Finisher1 wrote:Has Silva ever taken a penalty?

Re: Penalty takers
I'm just quoting myself here to add something else. It might be worth noting that Silva scored in a penalty shootout 3 weeks ago against Borussia Dortmund, after their International Champions Cup tie ended 1-1. However shootouts don't add to players official goal tallies which is why I missed this originally.FPL Ruined My Life wrote:David Silva has only taken 1 penalty in his football career which was against Southampton in 2012 and was saved by Kelvin Davis.Finisher1 wrote:Has Silva ever taken a penalty?

So I assume we can write Silva off. I guess it's between De Bruyne and Kolarov then, if Aguero doesn't want to take it himself.

Re: Penalty takers
Good foresight from the OP here. But I don't think Leicester, Man U or City penalty takers are nailed on over the full season so wouldn't get too worked up over this.
I think penalty duties are more significant outside the big clubs where players have lower value and penalty duties make a significant impact on their attractiveness in FPL. Mahrez, Zlatan, Aguero are worth having whether or not they are on pens but if you're considering Mark Noble or Leighton Baines then whether they are nailed on pens is vital info.

Re: Penalty takers
I totally agree. If aguero or zlatan score a single goal in the match through penalty it doesn't make any big difference because a goal was expected from them anyway. But if a oop player or a player from a smaller club or a player with really low price tag can ensure penalty duties then he becomes an attractive option immediately. The Libero wrote:Good foresight from the OP here. I wouldn't advice anyone to ignore my posts, because I think they have some value, even if you don't like my style. But of course it's everyone's own decision. However, what is sad is a community member encouraging others to ignore a fellow member's posts. There's no way I would ever do that to anyone. But maybe that's how Mav3rick shows respect, so each to their own.
I tend to read nearly all of the posts in FISO and I think they are all valuable. That's how I respect this forum, but again each to their own.
