Stoke fans may have more accurate thoughts on this, but personally I don't think it's that clear how secure either are tbh, especially whether Cameron keeping the OOP role.

The first game the whole defence was fit for (i.e. when Johnson was back in GW5) it was Pieters who missed out with Martins Indi moving to LB instead. It certainly seems like Hughes doesn't fancy Cameron at LB since he was benched for the first two games in favour of Pieters (Wollscheid was CB and couldn't switch over to facilitate Cameron like MI can).

I think themidfield has basically been Imbula & Whelan sitting with Allen just ahead until recently. But Imbula has been fairly awful so it looks like he's currently out of favour with Cameron playing that role for now. So, if Imbula gets over his blip (and/or Hughes decides to play a third attacking mid with Allen dropping deeper alongside Whelan) then it looks like a straight shootout between Pieters and Cam again. Of the two, the only info we seem to have is that Cameron played over Pieters (GW5) the one time it was a choice, so I'd probably lean to him for now if I had to pick one. :D

Could always go with Robertson at Hull. I think Stokes fixtures have the slightest edge but he seems less likely for rotation.

Would like to run with Targett for a few weeks as I think Southampton can keep 2 or 3 clean sheets in the next 4, but after doing some research I can't find any info about how long Bertrand will be out for.

Hamstring is usually 3-4 weeks right, but any confirmation anywhere? Physio room has no return date, Puel only said he will be missing tomorrow.

Martina is a better short term bet for Southampton.

But I heard that Curacao had a teenage girl in goal, a striker with a wooden leg and a dog as a holding midfielder, so he need not have been that fit . . .

Anyone kept an eye on McNair? I know Sunderland are poor, but he is playing OOP - anyone bothered to watch him closely?

Also, I see Brunt made his comeback this week with a 22 minute appearance, and that when he came on he played midfield.

4.9 and he'll be an excellent alternative to McAuley in a few GWs time if he can get a starting place on the wing.

Also noticed that. Let's see if he can get a starting spot.

Are there any West Brom fans on here who have an idea of where Brunt will fit into the team? There was a newspaper article recently where he said he wasn't too sure himself!

Before his injury he was playing left back, now Nyom is there with Galloway also available. If he slots in at left midfield will McClean be benched? Leko has also played a few minutes there.

I think he came on for Philips in the last game, anyone know who was on the right wing in place of Philips then?

I guess I'm trying to figure out how sure he is of a first team place when fit. A WBA defender playing in midfield with a share of corners and assist potential for 4.9m is tempting

Edit: probably should have put this in the Defensive Gems thread? if any mods can fix that it would be appreciated.

I'd like to know as well, but I guess we have the luxury of not really wanting him for 3 GWs at least, so we can see how he fits in. If he plays OOP and takes some set-pieces, it will be hard to ignore him as an option from GW12 onwards.

Seems that Robertson is out for 8 weeks. Not even sure who Hull have as cover in that position but almost all their defenders are injured. The only possible replacement ones that are not flagged are 4.0.

Didn't they start tehhhe season with only 11 or 12 players?

I don't recall a load of defenders being signed....

My West Brom supporting mate reckons Pulis will try to find a way to put Brunt back in at leftback despite Nyom playing well so far in that position.

There's plenty to choose from if you're looking for a similar priced replacement; Pieters, Cameron, Holebas, and Smith all look like good value picks.

Is Pullis being paid by players too?

Need to pick 3 from Vertonghen (Bou A), Pieters (Hull A), Holebas (Swa A) and Amat (Wat H). I'm on Vertonghen Pieters Holebas, but don't like how they're all away from home. All have good fixtures.

First sub, probably. It's between him and Holebas; reckon CS potential is pretty equal, but Holebas' attacking threat probably shades it.

Amat currently (can of course change) in my starting 11, ahead of Vertonghen and Stones. May sound crazy, but I fancy Bournemouth to score, don't trust Man City to keep a CS, and think a game at home to Watford a great opportunity for The Bradley Bounce to return a first win and CS...

As above, that "(can of course change)"

Yeah reasonable logic. Swansea-Watford hardly looks a goal fest, so I'd be happy playing either really. Between those two for me, as I'm definitely starting Clyne and Walker.

Same decision that I need to make and I'll probably go the same way - looks like a draw to me.

But the others cost more
the "mythical Lenihan" ( is he a Leviathan?) is one of the only three 3.9m Defenders in the market, all injured

HUL Lenihan -- Knee injury - Expected back 22 Oct
EVE Pennington -- Hamstring injury - Unknown return date
EVE Browning -- Knee injury - Unknown return date

at least he's the one with a known and close return date...
...provided it doesn't get set further back, and regardless how much game time his boss would give him even when game fit

as I think it was posted elsewhere, his only merit is making you spare that extra 0.1m if you desperately need it
