I am currently (having an awful season) 127 points from the top 10k. That is my aim but is probably a bit out of reach without a big slice of luck. I'll be relatively happy with anything inside top 50k given how this season has gone!

It certainly seems amazingly low compared to normal. In the previous two seasons the Top 10k finishers consisted of about 21% and 36% respectively of entrants with previous 10k finishes - so the fact that we're currently on 6% probably says a lot about what type of season this has been.

We'll surely see an upsurge though as, pretty consistently, around 20% of the final Top 10k don't get there till after or on GW30. You'd imagine a larger proportion than usual of those late Top10 entrants will come from the more experienced end of the spectrum, but getting enough to reach near the 21% final tally of 2013/14 seems very unlikely. And absolutely no chance of even getting in the same stratosphere as last season's rate of 36%.

A few weeks on (also post Gw30) and the % of first time top 10k has dropped to 87.99%

Quite a big 3-4 week surge that. Perhaps we will after all see a larger than normal experienced player 10k shift over the last 8. Not quite sure I've even seen an end of season scenerio so heavily favouring planners, with big DGWs, big blanks and chips galore, so it does feel a real possibility!

As an extremely likely late wildcarder I'll be delighted if I can be around that 10k cutoff point by the end of GW34 - at 16k and just 20 points ahead of you atm, so it looks like we're in the same race. Hopefully FISO will act as a shared slipstream for all of us. :D

I'm not sure I like this new nature of FPL in which early rankings by good managers are heavily inflated in early season and corrected only at the end of the season. Well I certainly like the fact that it's our advantage because we have more opportunities to make better decisions, but I don't like to discuss with someone not that aware of FPL and explaining during the early season "well yeah my overall rank is now about 200k but I will be in top 10k when I play these chips"

that's because you think your FPL ranking affects your reputation and the credibility of your opinions
you should move beyond that ;)

My aim at the start of every season is top 1k. That is probably out of my reach now, so I'll stick to my secondary aim of top 10k.

It's all a bit strange with the chips, I've no idea how high I can climb.

top 10k would be nice. I'm not nearly as competitive as some people on here but that's not a criticism. I enjoy the game but realize that I've overachieved in my first season. I doubt i'll be anywhere near this spot next season.

I'm still miles off the top 10k at around 42k currently. If I can just over halve the ranking from now to season end and finish in the top 20k I'll take that at this point.

Top 10k is still easily achieveable with the chips Mav.

It's taken me 5 weeks to get from 45k to 11k as a reference without any ridiculously high GW ranks.

Top 30k is always my 'start of season' target, because it's roughly top 1%. I'm currently 136k

I'm probably a little behind schedule, but ALWAYS a strong finisher, so looking to do it all again this year, aided by all the chips ofc :)

Last season was an epic fail, but here was my run-in:

GW31 151,919
GW32 156,731
GW33 143,603
GW34 106,672
GW35 80,975
GW36 62,891
GW37 59,026
GW38 75,071 (Gambled on the final week trying to win cash ML - failed)

Both the seasons before that I've only made minor improvements in rank, but been much higher to start with.
12/13 - From 25435 @GW31 to 16675
13/14 - From 8424 to 1874

I usually aim for the top 25k, as that was what I did in my first ever "real" season (the year before I pretty much picked a team and forgot about it). In those 5 years I've been between 10k and 65k, just missing out on the top 10k last year by 62 places.

Currently I am on exactly 62,000, with the WC and the two important chips left, so am hoping to get inside the top 25k and (if things go very well), maybe even sneak a first ever top 10k.

It's intriguing to think of the parallel universe of FPL managers in or around the top 50k with their OR heading rapidly south, many of whom you'd think might be still active if they're that high after this long. As Gary might say, "They just can't buy a green arrow."

yeah, all is relative... :P

I wasn't thinking about it, but as you pointed that out now, lemme see...

DrB
GW21 OR 2,011,156
GW31 OR 1,503,107
-508,049 = -25.26%

MoSe
GW21 OR 980,775
GW31 OR 262,806
-717,969 = -73.20%
download/file.php?id=20647&mode=view
following the Last 10 trend, I'd end up ranked 113k

we both had little red arrows in GW27-28
other than gross figures, our improvement follow similar patterns

others have been doing even better improvement-wise, I'm tinking for instance Mike James and OIEIAO from the Overal Rank thread

was thinking about the same thing... i.e. one hopes to use his remaining chips well, but others will also hope and maybe do

many other players in the top 200-300k range, where tarkens and I are, and lower, will have their chips abvailable too
(grossly approximating from FPLD, roughly half have at least 2, roughly a third have at least 3)
and many thereof will use them well, maybe even better than us

so indeed we'll have to use them better than the average top 300k players who still have them,
I'd say even better than 60-70% thereof, not just than their average

(tldr: THIS is a tldr, the post was two pages long before I thus summarised it! :P )

The clustered middle seems to be very close, i have a historical profile of finishing in the top 50k and a few top 10k finishes.

This season has been a diaster rank wise for a few reasons, but actually quite entertaining, was sitting at 2.5mill in GW 15 and 1.1mill in GW 28. Now sitting in 500k odd, with all the significant chips to play.

Im sure ill hit a glass ceiling somewhere but havnt given up hope of a top 100k finish, albeit playing very well and getting lucky.

The points difference from 500k - 100k is 90 odd points, so the using of the chips and playing the DGWs properly is going to be key.

I'm in almost the exact same situation as you! Was 108k in GW26 but a good few weeks has seen me rise to 28k now. WC, BB & TC still to go so definitely think the goal of a top 10k finish is possible - 32 points doesn't seem that much?

no, its not. Back in GW25 I though it was completley unrealistic until I saw what the actual gap was. Thought I might be a bit closer to it now than I am, say 25 points or so but that's only really a dodgy benching decision. Hopefully the bigger gains come from this week onwards.

It's a hard one to calculate. If I was chasing a specific rival, I wouldn't be worried about even a 50 point gap - one well-played TC or a big bench boost, or a good differential like Sanchez can half that in a single week.

However, it's obviously much harder when you're chasing literally everyone else above you... 32 points is easy to make up on a single person but it feels like we need to perform at least 32 points better than the 18k people between us and the 10k mark (maybe less than 18k, as some of the top 10k will fall back too). That seems tough!

That's the reason I've had half an eye on the % of people in the top 10k for the first time. Since I've been tracking my own progress its been dropping - it looks as if the planners may make up some ground over the current top 10k over the last few weeks. Unless of course the season carries on as it has been the rest of the time

No not too greedy at all. Just before Mav started this thread, I implied that massive ranking gains would be possible in the last 10-15 weeks. You should be aiming higher than top 3k if you're 6k now, with all chips available.

I'm 116k and have made up 200k places in just 5 weeks, that's with just one excellent week in there. If I can get up to about 50k in the next 3 weeks, which is less than 35 points away, then top 20k should be possible with the chips. Quite remarkable given I was at a hopeless 650k just 10 weeks ago. Still almost sure to disappointingly be my worst ever season in 14 years barring a miracle!

Up to 4.5k. Would be really confident of a top 1k finish if it wasn't for the chips. As it is I'm certain I'll make a mess of my wildcard, Bb and TC.
