49th. Smalling ruined any sort of improvement, which was a shame but still got to be happy with the overall rank in the end

A good final week saw me to 60,091 in the end, so mission accomplished here too.

Snuck into the top 1% on the final GW with a 35k ranking, and won my 3 leagues.
Happy with that after a hard season, need a rest from colour coded spreadsheets for a while now

and that leaves me moderately happy

Re: Overall Rank 2015/2016
Ended up on 6738. New PB and i'm quite happy with that. My goal from GW30 was to end up in top10k, and that i managed (from 98956 in GW29 to 6738 at the end).
Was probably robbed with a top 3-4-5k place when Smalling managed to score own goal late on (having both DDG and Smalling), but still happy in the end.
My first year on FISO, and my first year where I really payed attention. Next years goal should be top 1k, and hopefully I can be a bit more active in my responses here. A big thank you FISO'ers for the information, it's been a pleasure!

Re: Overall Rank 2015/2016
On the bright side, my overall rank of 8,571 was my third best season overall, but not even close to my original goal of being ranked in the top 1K.
I am disappointed about some of the misfortune and poor decision-making that I’ve encountered this season. So drawing comparisons, what I achieved this year was nowhere near last season’s 568th place effort.
I expect to do much better next season!

Re: Overall Rank 2015/2016
I think how happy people are with their rank depends not only on expectations based on how they've fared in previous seasons, but on their progression throughout this season.
Calvin's 3,673 is a great rank, but then he was ranked 8k in GW22 when most serious players were really struggling, so I can kind of understand the disappointment at not making it even higher.
I finished a bit lower at 6,109 but happy with that since it's the result of a late surge. If I'd been in Calvin's position in GW22 I wouldn't be happy with it.

Re: Overall Rank 2015/2016
A resting place of 4,450 in the end, so a bit meh. Though after a weirdly unpredictable season it feels like a small escape considering my proud and incompetent evasion of Vardy points:
Games in team: 6 (0 goals),
Games not in team: 30 (24 goals).
Painful at times this season. Keeps the run of consecutive top 10k's going at least, five and counting.

So you finish above 9 out of the HOF top 10, with the kind of rank that even with good play probably needs a little bit of fortune too, and you call it a bit meh.
Expectations on here are very high, I was glad after a bad start to finish comfortably inside the top 50k.
Congratulations Ridley, guess you'll be in the top 10 HOF I'll be watching to see how they perform next season.RidleyMTB wrote:49th. Smalling ruined any sort of improvement, which was a shame but still got to be happy with the overall rank in the end

Well, I guess it depends on your aims/expectations. There's a number of us that have said for a while that we broadly considerCarlos Kickaball wrote:Stemania wrote:A resting place of 4,450 in the end, so a bit meh.

sub 1k exceptional
sub 2.5k very good
5k average
10k+ dodgy
20k+ poor
That rough evaluation certainly fits in with my recent results - remarkably well actually - last 5 years average is 4,891, right in the middle - so a mid 4.4k finish is indeed pretty close an bang average and is a meh season as far as I'm concerned.
I don't think many people will agree that sub 5k implies fortune (and was a bit taken aback at Ridley being hit with similar assertions a few pages back after another superb season - there was a time all good results would simply be congratulated on FISO). I certainly didn't deserve an exceptional season really after all the Alder/Vardy ducking and Phil Jones/Bony/Benteke picking.

I finished comfortably in the top 1k and I'm pretty certain the balance of the breaks went against me. Easily my most frustrating season so far. I'm confident of finishing higher next season IF I have the same amount of time to invest in it.

So by these measures you consider that 9 of the HOF top 10 didn't even manage an average season this year, 8 having a dodgy season or worse, and 6 being poor. Yet you also consider the HOF a good place to pick skilled managers from.
I think that your observation that the population of good FPL managers seems to struggle more in certain years is much more astute.

Re: Overall Rank 2015/2016
Um...all I said was I thought my own personal season was a bit average - don't see why all this HoF/luck vs skill malarchy has to be brought up at every opportunity or what the hostility is about. :s
I'm sure the HoF players who had poor seasons are very disappointed in their years. It's been pretty frequently commented that this has been a very weird, unpredictable and generally horrible season for many managers on FISO too. That if necessary can all be analysed later by those interested enough in the appropriate thread.

I was just disagreeing with you, I'm not sure why that's considered hostile. But if you think that comparing your performance with the HOF top 10 is irrelevant or somehow derailing the topic into other territory, okay.

Re: Overall Rank 2015/2016
First post!
Finished 21,185. Highest ever finish, and won all my mini leagues, so pretty pleased.
Nightmare start entirely rescued by Captain Kun banging in five in GW8. Bumbled around the 400,000s until early February but then got a bit zen with transfers all of a sudden and popped up to around 40,000. While the wildcard in GW33/bench boost in 34/triple captain in 37 weren't as spectacular as they could have been, they got my comfortably more points than my mini league rivals, so all the patience and planning were worth it in the end.
That this all happened the first season I properly started reading stuff on FISO is no coincidence, so cheers to anyone whose advice helped me out! Will try and actually contribute a bit in return next year.

118000th. Rate this higher than any of my other seasons eventhough I've come top 10k and a few top 5k. Craziest season I can ever recall. My first 13 gameweeks were literally every week shipping out an injured player which meant I had no real control over transfers.
Made some mistakes too but not many - was slow to offload hazard and costa, being slow in bringing vardy as i did't want 2 leicester players, captained aguero ahead of kane(cost me 14 - aguero should have netted at least 2 but kane was the correct cpt I just tried to cement a lead on my rival who i knew was a utd fan and would'nt cpt kun - rookie error. Probably cost myself a few more points trying to win another league where i had about 50 pts to make up and went for some weird players as my main money league was already won. Considering not looking at league tables anymore it probably cost me a good 50 or so points alone.
What won me my money league was taking a punt on sanchez. putting him cpt starting with the 14pt haul and then treble cpt for the double helped me rise a few hundred thousand in 3 or 4 gameweeks.
Looking forward to a laid back euro 2016 fantasy before next season. My plan is to study much harder in the pre season because there were clear signs chelsea had problems last summer but i didn't take note.

In particular I like how you looked through my old scores. I didn't pay attention until 2012/13, had an absolute abomination in 2013/14, got myself together in 2014/15, and finally cracked it this year. Guess it makes sense to aim for top 10k next year.
Oh and thank you also for the graph - made my day!
One quick question - where exactly is the option to include my team link? I can't seem to find it.
