If he can make top 100 after being top 200 last year that will be some achievement.

One look at Ridley's team for last gameweek and it's immediately obvious that he and I play the game in a different way. (apart from the enormous discrepancy in OR of course!)

I would almost never bench a forward in favour of a defender. This week Ridley chose to bench Martial and play Bellerin, Smalling, PVA and Morgan. I guess expecting a 0-0 in the Man U Leicester game.
Luckily/Skillfully Aguero didn't play and Martial's 9 came off the bench for him, and of course Morgan makes up for the loss of CS with a handy goal. :)

Well I'm not sure whether or not that benching decision was the right one in the first place, but definitely the outcome included lot of luck, that's a fact.

How do you guys get those defender goals and assists? I have had premium defenders with enormous attacking potential and underlying stats for the whole season, but only three goals and hardly any assist. I genuinely think I have been very unlucky with defenders' attacking returns.

Good luck to Ridley and he clearly knows what he's doing, but his overall record (though not sure how much he's learnt/improved in the last couple of years) plus a decision like benching Martial ahead of some of those defenders like Morgan at the weekend makes me think he's not more skilled than a few other FISO members. I'm almost certain Ville would not have played Morgan ahead of Martial as there's no way his points expectancy was higher than Martial, no chance. A guy like Ville does not make any clear cut strategical errors (and in my view has had more than his fair share of breaks in the last couple of years at least - hence his amazing record).

I was hoping for 0-0 and the Morgan goal was a bonus. I agree I got lucky with Martial but how many people got lucky with Robles and Darlow?!

I usually play 3-4-3, as it is the most exciting way to play the game. Of course, I was hugely disappointed when Leicester conceded to a Martial goal but I got the rub of the green with the Aguero no show. That's what the bench is for though right? It's a squad game and over the season, I try to build very good team value to build a good squad to cover for such situations.

Benching headaches have been a nightmare this season and you can't often get them right without a bit of luck. Quite often it is a coin toss situation. It's easy to say it was wrong to play Morgan ahead of Martial with hindsight but if Leicester had kept a clean sheet with the Morgan goal, then people would be saying different things .

The main reason for playing Morgan ahead of Martial was protecting ML leads with rivals having Leicester defenders but not Martial.

I wasn't trying to criticise. Personally I swung from expecting a 0-0 to being sure both teams would score throughout the week. In the end I benched Smalling (and shipped out Leicester players on WC).

I think a lot of the stuff that gets discussed on here, especially at this end of the season, is less important than considering your own ML situation. The Martial vs Morgan decision was probably as close as you can get to 50/50, and you chose to back Morgan due to the (I expect) plethora of Leicester defenders in rival teams. Most people have at least one Leicester defender, so it was also a safe move for you OR (although I suspect not your motivation).

Whatever your decision, you ended up playing both anyway :). The fact Martial scored is surely more of a reflection that he was a good pick to have in the team, rather than luck.

Smalling came on for me BTW, thanks for both of those points.

rank 4283 with Benchboost and Tc the next 2 weeks, my goal of finishing in top 10k this season seems secure at this point.
Made plenty mistakes along the way, some got punished hard like Benching Mahrez 10+ point weeks twice and late switch captaincies, forgetting to confirm the use of gw 34 Tc, But overall i think i did well to manage to have a good squad most of the season without taking many transfer hits.

Since my page 1 post I've slowly climbed to now sit just below 150k. On course for my best finish yet and hoping i may sneak into top 100k if next dgw goes as well as the last.

Every season to this point ive either given up or spat my dummy out and had the odd week spending 20odd pts on overhauling at some point. Stuck with it this year and pleased with my progress, hope next season I can improve again.

And now my OR is little bit over 5k with 16 players to go. 2 FTs for the next round is also a big help so this season is really getting a nice ending.

Up to 35k. TC Hazard was a nice differential since I had Payet in my team anyway. I wonder what could have been if Hazard scored more.

42k. Bad. Leaving out a dreadful GW34 score with  zil(c), if it weren't for the rankings below, it would have been an obscene season:

GW29:460K
GW30:493K
GW31:15K
GW32:164K
GW33:208K
GW35:109K
GW36:152K
GW37:10K

This is what always seems to be the pattern of my seasons; starting dreadfully a nasty habit I can't seem to shake.

Up to a season high rank of 2,200. Hoping for a green arrow so I finish in my highest position.

I think top 1000 is out the window now.

forgive me those in the top 10k, and those disappointed being "just" in the top 50k
I know some skilled posters here got in the top 1k in their rookie season
I'm not in their league, but toiling in my humble backyard, it took me almost two full seasons to first crack the top 100k

details later, and in my button :D

I'm nowhere near hitting the lofty heights of most of you guys owing to a dreadful first three quarters of the season, but I scraped in to the top 100k last night so I guess the aim is to stay there. Possibly with the aid of a punt or two.

I’m currently ranked around the 14K mark, which is something that I’m a tad disappointed about, considering I finished last season with a 568th rank.

When I unintentionally ruined my squad when using my wildcard during game-week 34, it’s been a bit of a rebuilding exercise for me since then and I still have loads of appalling players that I’d love to get rid of, namely: Ozil, Fosu-Mensah, Milner & Sturridge.

So I fully expect to receive a red arrow for my final week of the season and will probably be fortunate to gain a top 20K rank.

So far so good! Moved up to 942 OR, Moved up to 2nd in my ML 3p from 3rd, and I'm 10p ahead of Ville Rönkä. Just need to survive one more week

61,983 OR, pretty shit comparing to some here, but I'm fairly happy with that, considering how many mistakes I've made throughout the season and how little time I spent on it in August - January

still hoping for top 50k finish

In the top 5k after having GW37 rank in the top 5k.

Pleased with that and I'll be even more pleased if I can stay there.

Scraped into the top 10k last night, aim to maintain that in the final week so I'll only be using my 1FT.

Back to the top 15k and still a slight hope of a top 10k finish... my season will be marked by a bad TC pick in GW34 with Ozil (after having changed between him and Aguero a lot of times - meaning a huge 42 point swing in that GW)!

Exact same as you Notned, cracked 100k lastnight for the first time all season. Sitting at 95k and hoping I can hang on for one more week. Will be a reasonably pleasing end to a pretty disappointing season if I do.
