The FPL Press Conference News Nugget Thread 15/16

Post by First Sub Podcast »

Big or small, post your nuggets here.

First up it's Everton and RM has said Deulofeu is not fit for the weekend.

When we all want guaranteed starters this week's news conferences could be the most important this season.

Should make Muniesa a safer choice.

I think Muniesa was pretty safe already wasn't he? If anything it makes their defence less appealing. I'm still likely to keep Muniesa though

Does that bring Wollscheid into contention then?

Van Gaal confirms that De Gea won't start at the weekend due to ongoing transfer speculation, and Rojo isn't in contention due to lack of match fitness.

This could mean a series of 3-4 starts for Romero, as presumably speculation will continue until the transfer window is open.

It will definitely be Romero starting, right? I understand Valdes has been frozen out? Could be a good option to start the season with, for a cheap way in to the United backline.

No.
ManUtd forum fans expect Johnstone to play as Romero's last match was at CopaAmerics and obviously he lacks match fitness. It's not that simple anyway, so I would avoid Romero.

I see that Johnstone is not even available in FPL.

Does anyone here know, when was the last time someone played Premier League game without being available in FPL?

Even if Johnstone were available, we don't know who will play in GW2.
It could be:
- Johnstone if he played well against Spurs
- Romero if he trained well
- De Gea if his future were clear at ManUtd

So many questions... Verdict: avoid :)

No new injury worries for Norwich. Lafferty, Olsson and Mulumbu all ruled out.

Oh, Newcastle from yesterday:

Decisions still not made on whether Coloccini, Mbemba or Mitrovic will be (match) fit enough to start. So nothing definitive on Steven Taylor's chance, but him, Williamson and Cisse will play if none of them make it.

Agreed - and Cedric.

I'd also say no De Gea for United makes Kane look more appealing by the minute.

OMG...

I think I'm still going to hold off for the moment. He hasn't said he's actually going to start...

To temper the panic. It seems Pellegrini also said:

"Maybe the South American players are not 100% fit to start the season but they are working very well.

No reason to bring in Aguero just yet.

If he was nailed, I would pick him. But if you calculate that he is not nailed AND he has two difficult fixtures to start with, then I think that every sensible FPL manager realises that his expected points are very low, especially if you consider his price.

I think that means Aguero will be back before the GW4 we all expected.

Points potential isn't the only consideration, if he starts or comes on and scores then his price will rocket.

The odds for that happening are very low, ie. his points potential is very low.

I'm pretty sure Aguero came off the bench to score about four times early last season. It really isn't that unlikely.
