It is baffling to me that the league is not forcing the same team sheets that were submitted. This match is going to be a mockery if united is allowed to play a "lessor" team without retribution from the league.

But why is it any more a mockery than any other competitive match where the manager puts out a second XI, as several managers have done this season. It's not as though the result of the match would have a significant effect on the fortunes of any other team.ctibbits wrote: This match is going to be a mockery if united is allowed to play a "lessor" team without retribution from the league.
The only people severely affected are some fantasy managers, who in the grand scheme of things, are a total irrelevance.

Because at the time they still could've possibly nicked City for the 4th place. They surely had to go for it. Now it is meaningless.Striker wrote:But why is it any more a mockery than any other competitive match where the manager puts out a second XI, as several managers have done this season. Exactly, so why create a fuss, even if LvG had played the reserves?ctibbits wrote:Now it is meaningless.

Yeah you are right. They should just revert back to the days of old in major tournaments too (WC, Euros etc) and not worry about playing the last round of group play simultaneouslyStriker wrote:Exactly, so why create a fuss, even if LvG had played the reserves?ctibbits wrote:Now it is meaningless.
The "fuss" was merely because it unfairly was allowing a team to not have to go for it. I can't believe this really needs explaining to you. It is a moot point as LVG actually fielded a strong 11 but surely you can understand.

If AFTER the unusual event on Sunday and the unfortunate result that all games were not taking place at the same time, and AFTER the subsequent result that everything was decided, on this specific occasion, it really didn't matter who LvG selected.ctibbits wrote:Yeah you are right. That's not the most thoughtful comment. On this specific occasion fate intervened. What was your solution at 3 pm on Sunday?Striker wrote:Exactly, so why create a fuss, even if LvG had played the reserves?ctibbits wrote:Now it is meaningless.
