Re: Pre Season results chat
In fairness, even Newcastle's reserves should have enough about them not to go two goals down to a L2 team early doors, not that it bears any real impact on the upcoming season of course.

Our defensive lineup is absolutely dreadful. Bigirimana, Lascelles, Satka, Ferguson.

Re: Pre Season results chat
Watching Utd in pre season has made me question my Memphis selection. Has obvious potential, but his goalscoring ability hasn't looked good. His touch is failing him, and he's missing chances. There are less risky options at 8.5, and Mané at 8.0 looks a great value pick for Sotons opening fixtures. Just did Memphis, Benteke, Cédric Mané, Kane, Richards (4.5 def research ongoing).

Re: Pre Season results chat
Liverpool has a game on Saturday and one on Sunday, and Benteke would have to at least score to make me pick him for the starter, away to Stoke. Kane just doesn't look like he'll stop scoring, and with Spurs' fixtures from gw2, and the Utd defence, I believe he can be both a differential (vs. serious players) in the beginning, and a template selection, sooner rather than later.

Re: Pre Season results chat
At the moment I agree, but after every preseason game, my opinion seems to change on who looks like a good up front duo/trio.
Originally it was all about Rooney/Costa, whereas now (Costa injury & United attack not looking amazing), I'm leaning towards a front three of Giroud/Kane/Pelle.
I'm sure it'll be different tomorrow

Looks like Tadic playing alongside Pelle and Mane in the attacking three tonight. JRod not even in the squad.

Re: Pre Season results chat
On loan from Chelsea, was excellent in the Championship last season - saw him play and he was clearly a class above anyone else on the pitch. PL a big step up of course, but he could be great value if he clicks. £0.5m more than Wilson as a striker/enabler. Definitely worth considering IMO.

Is he a nailed on first choice though or will Pardew favour Murray or someone else?

Re: Pre Season results chat
I would imagine Wickham will be their favoured starter, more often than not. Bamford certainly isn't secure enough to be a consideration just yet. Luckily for anyone tempted, their fixtures are tough enough to begin with to force you into a wait and see approach anyway.

Yeah, Wickham's signing today has cooled even my enthusiasm for him
