You can never keep a top manager out of the game for long and yesterday afternoon it emerged that former mags supremo John Carver has been named as the new manager of crack European outfit AC Nicosia Omonoia
The Cypriots will join the Scottish Cup winners Hibs and city rivals Hearts in the prestigious Europa League qualifying round 1 next season having battled to a worthy fourth in the super tough Cypriot league against top flight opposition.

Everton have announced Koeman now.
Can consider Everton defenders in our FPL teams again.

Aubameyang to City be an intriguing one, especially while Kun is out injured at some point

Hmm, the revival of Coleman/Baines (at 5.5-6m?) sounds tempting.Carlos Kickaball wrote:Everton have announced Koeman now.

Not sure Koeman has been officaly announced yet but its been done since last Weds. Southampton are furious and have really held up negotiations, Evertons new owners have been keen to make it look like everything has been done by the book. In reality Koemans people were first approached before Martinez lost his job. I expect it to be announced today offically. Some ground being made in the DOF recruitment, the lad at Sevilla remains the preffered choice as i think liquid mentioned, he has loads of options and would even welcome a break but the offer from Everton is one that would make your head turn. Some restructuring going on behind the scenes as well some very high calibre people are getting involved to advise on many issues sponsorship, commercial deals, merchandising and stadium relocation, its all go but changes are likely to be incremental.

Yes sorry. I was inaccurate when I said Everton have announced him. Media has reported that it has been agreed for him to become Everton manager would have been more accurate.

Nice positive article in the telegraph (for Everton fans anyway)The Username wrote:Not sure Koeman has been officaly announced yet but its been done since last Weds. In case anyone missed it - there's been some Football Rules changes before the EUROs, which presumably with also apply to the PL next year:
https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... le-changes
Some interesting stuff, mostly sensible I'd say. Notable stuf:
Last man foul in the box no longer a red (if genuine attempt to get the ball)! It doesn't say anything about in no longer being a red if it's outside the box and denies a goalscoring opp, so will be interesting to see if attacking teams will sometimes start arguing that the foul was outside the box if they prefer an opposition red to a penalty.
Kickoff can be kicked in any direction.
If you're injured by a yellow/red challenge you don't have to leave the pitch for treatment.
If two players find themselves off the pitch and one tries to stop the opponent getting back on when the ball is in play it's now a freekick on the touchline rather than a drop ball. You can now concede a penalty this way - presumably depending on whether the ball is in the box at the time.

At least they've finally sorted out the corner flag issue that's been ruining the game for the last couple of years.

I can't imagine any situation where a red card is better than a penalty. Penalty is always a likely goal, so that's always better than red card, no matter whether a team is leading or chasing.Stemania wrote:Last man foul in the box no longer a red (if genuine attempt to get the ball)! I wonder if we are going to see the fastest goal scored every because of this rule.Stemania wrote: Kickoff can be kicked in any direction.

Fun times. Not sure he's mobile enough to guarantee being a roaring success, but great for the league as a spectacle. I wonder if he's realised there's no CL.liquidfootball2 wrote:Ibrahimovic to have Utd medical.
We'll all be looking out for that FPL price in a month or so.
In other news Feghouli will be joining WHU.

1.23 goals per game in the french league though, and Mou loves him. He could be a great captain option (though not as great as Kun under Guardiola).Stemania wrote:Fun times. I too think he could do reasonably well but would totally disregard that stat as virtually worthless.

I don't know about worthless. Do I expect him to score 45 in the PL? Of course not. But it shows that he's not past it yet, and Zlatan in good form is a monster. It all depends on the pricing though. If Zlatan and Kun are both 12.5+ it might be difficult to fit them in at first.liquidfootball2 wrote:gallus wrote: 1.23 goals per game in the french league though, and Mou loves him. I think Eastcentral might want to look at the back of Sigurðsson's shirt today, they've found an upper case eth for him.

So that would mean Liverpool will have a pretty hard start to the season;Liverpool have written to Burnley asking for them to agree to reverse the fixture so the Reds would travel to Turf Moor on weekend of Aug 20

As a M'boro supporter, Id recommend either Ayala or Friend at the back depending on price. Friend a left back who likes to bomb forward at every opportuntity will chip in with a few assists every now and then. Ayala is a constant threat at set pieces. Scored a good few goals for us. Confident of getting plenty of clean sheets because Karanka has stablizied a decent back line while hes been in charge. Nsue is another to keep an eye on only if FPL class him as a defender as hes very versitile, played at right back last season but occasionally plays right wing or second striker

One of Stones or Lukaku, is likely to leave mate. Conversely we have to much money, in order to spend it we need to create space in the wage bill.Financial fair play compliance.liquidfootball2 wrote:Yes Mata looking likely, enquiry on Begovic availability. The Username wrote:Odds shortening on Mata to Everton I see.

We could try to shift some of the dead wood but they are all on nice little earners and would be hard to get similar contracts elsewhere.
The Mata interest is very strong and sounds have been positive from his side. Begovic enquiry was to state an interest everything is on a bit of pause at Chelsea at the moment with Conte elsewise engaged. I believe his situation may be linked to what happens to Courtous, he's apparently fallen out with a lot of staff and officials at Chelsea and was one of the agitators in Mourhinos demise. There is also some substance in Witsel and Strootman praticulary Wiesel. On transfers though, especially this time of the year it's like shadow boxing.
