Calling Lukaku for now. If he's not too expensive I might even take a punt on him from the start

edit: I've just seen the fixtures, maybe I won't pick him from the start :D

Not gonna go for obvious like aguero and hazard.
lukaku - think everton will do well. He did well last year too and everton were hopeless!!

Benteke - goal machine but only if villa can score!!

De jong - doubt he will stay fit but he looks like a great player!!

What do you call a big season?

Is this based on the player doing better than they did last season?

Payet, Benteke, Özil. Also Ward-Prowse could be in my FPL team if priced well.

That's interesting because articles I've seen suggest they were fortunate last season:

Clue to that link is 'stats bomb' :)

I'm coming from a more emotional perspective, Monk seems a very competent calm and strategic manager, they seem to have great team spirit and they've made some good signings

If you can define luck as something hidden in stats , FPL would be easy

Different ways of skinning cats I know,

It's just the number of shots, and particularly the danger zone shots that stand out. Fabianski was immense last season and basically their defence hinged on him, if he gets injured or can't play at the same (very high) level again then shots start turning into goals and confidence can unravel. Monk himself seems calm, but he has basically no managerial experience so if things do start to slide, we've no idea how we will react. Of course Monk and Swansea aren't going to be ignorant of these stats, and they will know that those away wins against Arsenal and Man Utd were hugely unlikely results so they will undoubtedly already be looking at things they can change to improve.

I wouldn't like to call it either way (wrong thread for fence sitting I know), but I'd think that Swansea are more likely to do worse than to kick on.

Luckily for us, their opening games aren't great so we probably won't want to pick any Swansea assets initially anyway which will give us time to assess them before jumping on. There was a potential West Ham => Swansea transfer period after about GW 10 or so, so maybe a hop on/off of a similarly priced West Ham player would be an option.

To be honest stats aside, I thought that Swansea had a dodgy defence, and that their attack was less potent once they lost Bony, and that their results did flatter them last season.

Anyway, this is the point of this thread, debate is healthy. But ignore Swans at your peril, it's a Bongo Called it

I'm with Bongo on this one. Naughton, Siggy, Gomis, Fabianski, even Ayew et al, all look very good options to me. I expect I'll probably start with two of them.

I think that Fabianski is a good option. I fear Naughton will get a price hike so it's all down to that on their defenders/keeper really. Sigurdsson will be a good option, but again depends on his price. If he's in that awkward 7.5 slot then it might tough to include him sensibly. He could easily he even more that that too.

I'm not convinced at all by Gomis, and don't see myself using a precious striker slot on him unless he starts doing something special or comes in at a very attractive price point.

There are quite a few mid priced midfielder that take my fancy this year so the price list is going to be the most important factor in Swansea picks for me.

Ayew, Mané, Costa. On a side note, Firmino and Depay to have terrible seasons.

Ajew is a great shout

I obviously forecast Blackburn to be dire as usual but you know that
