Time to dump terry?
I was thinking that once chelsea wrap up the title, will jose rest terry as he has been more or less ever present this season??
His finds would come useful for arsenal players who have good fixtures apart from MAN U.
Thoughts??

He's played every minute of the season so far (and this is his first chance to every do that for an entire season), is the captain, has no internationals to attend over summer, and was lavished with praise by Mourinho only this weekend.
For me Cahill is the more likely to make way if Zouma needs further blooding.

Jose won't let up in the title race, I fully expect him to keep grinding out the 1-0's until the seasons end.

pdh's point was indeed "once chelsea wrap up the title"BigBuster15 wrote:Jose won't let up in the title race, I fully expect him to keep grinding out the 1-0's until the seasons end.
should Chelsea win wednesday @Lei,
and then win again sunday GW35 home v Palace regardless Arsenal result (or just match what Gunners will do monday @Hul),
the title race will be over with 3 games yet to be played (LIV,wba,SUN)
I think Stem's point would stand tho even in such case

I was thinking of terry to arsenal CB and then keeping the ars player as they will be fighting it out for 2nd.

Re: Time to dump terry?
There's no way Terry will be rested despite the league being wrapped up. Cahill is more likely to be rotated with Zouma, and Azpilicueta with Felipe Luis. I think Terry and Ivanovic are safe for the rest of the season.

I can see Ivan missing the odd game tbh, with Azpili switching to RB.

The stats are dark and full of errors.
Re: Time to dump terry?
Once the league is won anything could happen. They could easily just try to be more entertaining anyway meaning goals might be leaked in the last few games. I don't think that will happen until the last two games though as obviously they need something against Leicester and Palace, and I don't think Mourinho will conceded anything to his old trainee Rodgers.Stemania wrote:I can see Ivan missing the odd game tbh, with Azpili switching to RB.

Re: Time to dump terry?
I think out of all the back 4 Terry is the one most likely to play every minute
I can see Cahill rested, Azpi also for Luis
I don't even see the point of Cech in for Courtouis? What are they resting them for exactly? They want to bask in their title winning glory and Cech will be leaving in the summer anyway
If he's gonna 'blood' anyone I'd like to see some of the young English guys get some gametime

Chance for Cech to say goodbye?
Managers, even Mourinho, can be sentimental if there is nothing to play for.
Can't see reason to rest anybody but blooding youngsters, giving CKs game time and sentimental goodbyes could all happen at Chelsea and anywhere where there is nothing to play for.

I can imagine Cech starting the last game which is played at home, for a chance to say goodbye to the fans and vice-versa.

Terry is probably the most unlikely of all the Chelsea team to be left out, virtually no chance unless he's injured.

Cuadrado likely to see some game time? Compared to his usual < 5minute app

Re: Time to dump terry?
I think players need to make 5 appearances for a medal, the lowest senior players are Cech & Cuadrado on 5 & 7 respectively - so there's no reason to play them from that point of view.

Re: Time to dump terry?
It did but was changed to just 5 at the start of the 12/13 season, Jack Rodwell got his last season with just 109 mins across 1 start & 4 sub appearances.redcat1 wrote:Didn't it used to be 10 games ?thelimey wrote:I think players need to make 5 appearances for a medal, the lowest senior players are Cech & Cuadrado on 5 & 7 respectively - so there's no reason to play them from that point of view.

I remember this same subject being discussed in another topic a while ago...
maybe searching for "medal" could scoop it up
