The FPL Press Conference News Nugget Thread

Post by MPTree »

Very often, the pre-GW press conferences will give us all kinds of little nuggets of info that have a bearing on our FPL squads. The biggest news is often deserving of its own thread of course. But the smaller news can often find itself buried away in the 'defensive gems' thread, or similar.

As a point of reference, I thought it might be useful to have a one-stop shop for all the FPL-relevant pieces of info that the press conferences reveal. I'll try and post a few bits here today, but if it takes off by itself, I think it could be a valuable resource.

Great idea. As mentioned elsewhere, it would seem the dropping of PvA last week could've been tactical.

Ben Dinnery Twitter: PvA could come straight back into the #SAFC side: "He will be back in contention tomorrow for sure. It was a bit of size [needed vs WBA]"

Not from the pressers, but news nonetheless, here's a bit more on PvA:

Interesting little nugget:

Koeman says playing Mané through the middle is "a possibility".

Might make him a more attractive option towards the end of the season.

Van Persie the only injury concern for Man U this weekend.

EDIT: RVP expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Back beginning of April.

Could give Falcao an opportunity to produce. Maybe push Rooney forward again?

No injury concerns whatsoever for Man City this weekend.

Nothing madly exciting from the Everton press conference. Lukaku trained normally today and should be ok for Sunday.

Oviedo out for around 3-4 weeks, Hibbert another 2 (what do you mean nobody owns him?), and Atsu won't make the Arsenal game (flu), but should be fine for Stoke. #NuggetNews

Judging by past experiments, I'd have thought it's a nailed on certainty that Smalling will follow up his double by being pushed up into attack.

Trained today, but likely to be a late decision. Looks like it could go either way.

Goodish. You may as well just read the BBC's live page each day.

It's a bit unlucky, a good thread idea in a week where the Friday pressers have been as dull as piss

Don't let them grind you down Tree. You might start the same thread next week and Burnley announce they've signed Messi.

It's an excellent thread.

The advantage other forums have over this one is that they are basically full of links to manager quotes, prezzies, hard info, which is what good managers want, particularly around Friday evenings.
The discussion on those forums tends to be dire.

The advantage this forum has over others is that it has the ability to treat a topic to a proper in depth discussion.
But it lacks in providing the constant stream of facts that are necessary coming up to the beginning of a new GW.

We used to have a brilliant injuries thread but it was only as good as the updates and people stopped bothering (or just posted on FPL threads etc) and so it died a death.

This thread would be good if someone could guarantee every good nugget gets copied across. They can't - unless someone gets anal enough. At least the BBC cover every press conference even if their selected highlights might not be just what us FF managers want.

Very useful that we'll know the lineup before the deadline.

Not sure this is a great time to play Palace though.

It will be useful. I expect he'll start on the bench, in which case he'll be plopped on mine at the last minute.

OK, I'm already playing Rose-Bertrand, and have Yoshi in the XI for a potential Soton double with Hutton-PVA on my bench in that order
So even if I get to know that Yoshi plays, you're saying I should prefer Hutton in any case, because of what Palace just did @WHU and of WBA blunt attack
