Re: Toby Alderweireld
Im keen on doubling up again on the Soton defence but would rather get Bertrand to go with Clyne.

He's £0.9m more though, Alderweireld is a bit of a bargain...

He is a bargain but if you can afford it, Bertrand is worth the extra money as he gets more attacking points and bonuses.jacksosi wrote:He's £0.9m more though, Alderweireld is a bit of a bargain...

@AlderweireldTob remains out for Sunday's game, but could return against @WBAFCofficial the following weekend. #saintsfc

He didn't even make the bench yesterday so I think he could be struggling to start the next game.

That's the way i read it too, i usually interpret 'could' as 'unlikely' except when Martinez uses it when it usually means 'in a few weeks time'

It would be nice of we could get some concrete news on it this week.

Re: Toby Alderweireld
He is going to be a snip. I'd say it's a simple case of wait til he plays, then sign him up. It's been a sizeable layoff, so I think it could be wise to see him get some minutes in case of a recurrence.

Re: Toby Alderweireld
I'm more interested in Yoshida but he's pointless if Alderweireld is back soon.
Saying that, GW27 and 28 are days apart, if he's not fit for this week he might not be ready until 29.

Looks like Man City may make a play for Alderweireld in the off-season?

No new feedback this week on his recovery attempts for this coming GW . . .

Re: Toby Alderweireld
I would have gone Yoshida if Alderweireld had no chance for midweek.
Bit annoying really.

Re: Toby Alderweireld
yes, on that side it's a plus, I'll double on Soton anyway for GW27
(I knew I'll have to ship Yoshi soon anyway, and had indeed counted him as benched already, but was thinking to move out JT & Wisdom first this GW)
I was so focused on the extra 0.9m to spend for Bertrand over Alder, which will limit my other options for GW27/28,
that I didn't realise before posting that Yoshi's chances of playing GW27 just skyrocketed!
OTOH I just learned Hutton is a doubt (and I'll likely lose 0.1m on him), so...
I took leave tomorrow, 1.5 days dedicated to plan the other moves! [Edit: did not take it for THAT reason, lol, but I'll have most of the day free anyway]

Re: Toby Alderweireld
Not the news I was hoping for, and has left me with a bit of a conundrum;
Should I hold and hope he plays mid-week, at the risk of only fielding 9 this week? (Depending on whether PVA plays or not)
Or replace him and ensure I can field 10?
The other slightly more left field option is replacing Terry instead, and giving myself more of a chance of a full team that way?

I am holding on to Alderweireld and playing with 10. Don't want to take a further 4 pt. hit to pick up another defender.

Re: Toby Alderweireld
Basically my conundrum as well. Except I've already lost £0.2m in value on Toby "out for three weeks" Alderweireld and every £0.1m he gains in future will give me one back from what I lost. I've stuck this long so might as well see it out.Notned wrote:Not the news I was hoping for, and has left me with a bit of a conundrum;

Re: Toby Alderweireld
Good point. The same scenario for me too. I guess if we've stuck by him this long, another game or two won't hurt. I'm just getting slightly concerned at the amount of 'minor set backs' since the initial prognosis.TheChairLeg wrote:Basically my conundrum as well. Re: Toby Alderweireld
Good news on both Alderweireld and PVA. Means neither is a pressing concern right now.
My new conundrum is now whether to roll over my transfer and field ten at best, or ship out Terry for Bertrand or Clyne, ensuring a full team and double saints at home to palace..
Thoughts?

Had 2 free but keeping 1 extra for next week.
Kept Toby since Man U away so not getting rid now.

The Terry out move is really tempting me. Who do we rate as the best replacement? Bertrand or Clyne?

It's a toss up. Bertrand edges it on value provided he doesn't get sent off.

Feels slightly strange that after holding onto him all this time, the cusp of his return to full fitness also coincides with me probably being about to move him on...Beadling Boy wrote:Here's the latest . . .
