Costa?
Remember Diego?
Suspension done, home game vs. Burnley, then a bye, then a DGW somewhere.
Anyone considering bringing him back for Burnley??

No, I will after his blank fixture. Also have 2 Chelsea players and 1 spurs player, so my bench can't hold more than that for the blank GW.

Think GW30 will be the time I get him back in, if I do. Decent run of fixtures, and week 31 is their most likely double.

and just another 2 yc for a 2 game ban which at his current rate won't be long.
(caveat that having just checked he has not been booked in his last 8 pl games)

OF COURSE IFF Villans kick Foxes out of FA Cup this Sunday AND LEI-CHE gets rescheduled for GW28 too, things would radically change

I wouldn't bring him back before the blank but also now wondering whether I should opt for Sturridge in his place
Either way, one of those 2 will replace Giroud pretty soon

I asked the FFFix algorithm which single FT I could do to optimize my current team for GW26 only
(that is, not counting the following blank and DGW, just to know it...)
and their oracle response was....
Aguero Costa !!!

I am really hoping for a CHE DWG 28. I doubt it happens even if LEI lose, but that is my hope.MoSe wrote:AND I have no FT to squander before GW29 (I might even have to recur to some hit already)Notned wrote:Likewise.um09a2k wrote:No, I will after his blank fixture. Re: Costa?
He could prove a good differential for next GW, with most going aguero, particularly if aguero blanks and he scores good. However most, if not all will want to rollover for GW27 for the DGW in GW28. I suspect almost everyone has any three of Kane, Hazard + a Chelsea defender so adding a fourth into the mix will only harm you for GW27.
I'm playing safe and sticking with Aguero, seems madness to take him out with Yaya coming back too.
Of course if you can afford both, he'll be a great addition following this tricky run of gameweeks.

Re: Costa?
When he played despite yellowflagged, he rocked
When he played coming back from absence, he blanked (GW10/15)
not that it should mean anything for BUR
(it sorta amounts to astrology, superstition, or picking roulette/lottery numbers )
but so it happened

Re: Costa?
Would it really be a huge problem to carry through four players and deliberately field 10 in GW27 though? The last thing you want is to be throwing away points right now just so that you can have 1pt from a Stoke defender in GW27 for example. Having an extra doubler would cater for that anyway and I can imagine most people will take a hit in 28 to get maximum doublers out.tsubasa_sama wrote:He could prove a good differential for next GW, with most going aguero, particularly if aguero blanks and he scores good. Re: Costa?
At the end of the day it comes down to estimating the average number of points you expect each player to score on a given gameweek, and working out which combination of transfers is going to give you the best cumulative score over the next few gameweeks (while hopefully leaving yourself with a good squad to work with for future weeks). As such, I definitely agree with Sammy that fielding 11 players isn't absolutely essential if it's going to prove problematic to other plans. To take your example, a Stoke defender for GW27 is probably worth 3-4 points (doubt it's over 4), so if your decision is whether or not to ensure you have this Stoke defender playing if it will mean taking a hit to prepare for GW28, then no, you'd be better off fielding 10 players and not having to take a hit for GW28.
I think it's wise to wait until we hear news of Chelsea's rearranged fixture before using any transfers this week though.

Re: Costa?
This may be the case but I would think most will have a gwk27 bench of Kane and two good Chelsea men like Hazard and Terry or Ivanovic. I would also think the more serious players will have two free transfers for gw28 planned to give five good quality players in the dgw if both teams play twice.Sammy the Crab wrote:I can imagine most people will take a hit in 28 to get maximum doublers out.
Bearing in mind the possibility of injuries occurring in the gwk i think this will be plenty, and there isn't any real need for hits to maximize doubles as this would probably involve a lesser player anyway, and maybe even a player you wouldn't really want for very long afterwards.
If only Spurs have a dgw28 then no hits are necessary.

Re: Costa?
I'm going to hold out on costa. I've backed him more than most, but I think the odds this move turning sour in the immediate future make it worth holding out til after gw27, and then re-assess if we haven't seen a yellow.

Re: Costa?
Im planning for the next few weeks and am pondering over whether I need to create funds to bring Costa in. To what extent do people rate Costa have as a must-have, over slightly cheaper options like Giroud?

With budget defenders dropping like flies and no mid-priced midfielders appealing it's just not worth it IMO. Giroud will probably keep up with him anyway for those with a 343.

Re: Costa?
hes on 8 bookings now. chances are he will be booked against spurs in the cup final. away to west ham he will do well to avoid another. plan is to bring him back for the southampton home game but i wouldnt be at all surprised if he was serving a ban when the time comes.
i knew my chaser had signed him for this gwk. but i still couldnt bring myself to get him back in(have had him for all his gwks). not with the blank next wk. i noticed in my leagues that the guys chasing all went for him. thankfully for once their gamble failed. just looking at the board, kane and austin have now overtaken him and theyve also missed plenty of games. if u take away the everton and swansea cricket scores his pts have been poor. the bonus pts never go his way either. i reckon id be at least 40pts better off had i sold him back in october after the arsenal game.

Re: Costa?
Anyone considering Costa for GW28/9?
If I get him in then I've got to think about Sigurdsson or similar in during GW28 to start freeing up funds. Chadli would have been useful if he was starting games.
I guess it comes down to your choice of Costa vs your fourth choice premium mid + savings. I think in my case it would be Costa vs Sterling, Walcott, Ozil, ADM (as I'd hold Hazard, Sanchez, Silva in the midfield).
Costa + Sigurdsson Vs Sterling + Giroud is fairly representative, which on a straight (and naiive) ppg comparison puts the Costa team ahead.

Yes.
Planning on GW29 if he can avoid picking up bookings in the next two, have already brought Sigurðsson back, and will have enough money to do Giroud Costa.

I also think that 8 yellows won't put me off bringing him in (some other factors might do). But 9 yellows certainly would.
But FPL site shows he has only 7 yellows? So how many does he have, are FA Cup and League Cup matches counted also?

Re: Costa?
Nope, I mean two; Costa will play two games before game week 29, and in both a yellow would count towards his tally for suspensions.
Domestic cup yellow cards count, which I guess answers both your questions.

Re: Costa?
I believe so yes, but there is an amnesty so if he can behave himself for 5-7 games, he may avoid the suspension altogether.
Edit : it's the 2nd Sunday in April (12th), so if he only gets one yellow in the next 6 he could avoid it, and it also means he's unlikely to serve the ban during the DGW, and certainly can't pick it up in the first week of the DGW.
