I'm sticking with him for 31, giving him the armband, clenching my buttocks shut and then turning him into Costa by selling Alexis to fund it. Austin needs to turn up today

I don't have him, and so likely not worth the transfer just for one week. If I had him already, I'd probably give him the armband.

Played reasonably well and his owner's were unlucky to only end up with 5 pts

I don't think he played particularly badly, but he didn't do anything particularly fantastic, and QPR didn't look great in the highlights on MOTD2. I think 5 points was a decent return for his involvement in the match, 0 shots in the box, 0 shots on target, an off target shot, 2 blocked shots, and 2 chances created.

15 goals and 5 assists all whilst playin for 2nd worst team in the league says you are not correct.

Pub team... Maybe.

Only 15 goals? Maybe he's only as good as Chris Sutton. :P

I've only just stumbled across this thread... it's a joke, right? No?

Let's not do this...

....so, is anyone actively transferring in Austin for the double? Or are people just holding if they own, or looking to Costa/Giroud if they don't?

I did briefly consider (even before Costa's yellow flag) whether it was worth going to Austin/Benteke on the way to Costa, but it would require a 4ph for my team so doesn't feel worth it.

If you're far behind and chasing though, is it a good opportunity for a big score?

I don't have Austin, and don't believe his double is worth the transfer. If I had him, I would keep him in.

- Hi, I'm MoSe
- Hi MoSe
- I did Giroud  Austin for his DGW28 ...and for a -4 hit too

returns in the 3 GW so far
Austin: 8 2 5 = 15p, net 11p (deducting the hit)
Giroud: 8 11 13 = 32p

balance: -21p :( (and I didn't even use yet the 2.0m I gained)

fixtures:
Austin: wba+avl, CHE, -, WHU, liv
Giroud: LIV, bur, -, CHE, hul

for a moment saturday I'd even considered doing the reverse Austin  Giroud, regardless the QPR upcoming double, even before the QPR game yesterday!

FFFix points projections for GW31 only
Austin 4.5 + 5.1 = 9.6
Giroud 5.1

for GW31/32 Austin 13.9 Giroud 10.6
for 5 GW Austin 22.8 Giroud 20.6

Falcao - 4 goals - £265,000 a week in wages.

Austin's gotta be worth at least 6 or 7 hundred grand a week right?

Yeah, this is about what I'd expect too - Austin can probably be predicted to outscore Giroud by roughly 4 points this gameweek, making a hit a bit of a draw. What it might be though, is a shot at that surprise very high score (that Austin is more likely than Giroud to get) meaning taking a hit if chasing may well be worth it. I'd definitely not do the reverse transfer personally.

A better comparison might be Austin vs Costa though, as I know many are considering him as a Giroud replacement anyway. I suspect that predicted outcome has less than a 4 point difference (assuming Costa is fit) meaning it's probably not worth going via Austin to Costa for a hit, especially given the fixture difference afterwards.

FFFix have been overzealous and redflagged Costa, whose projection for GW31 is thus 0 by them, making their tool useless,,,

I actually transfered Austin  Giroud last week, and will go with Giroud over Austin for this week to.

Interesting how big a difference there is between FFS projections and the FFFix ones quoted by MoSe.

Austin: 7.02
Costa: 5.37
Giroud: 4.35

FFS numbers suggest that it's definitely not worth a hit.

Personally I wouldn't have to take a hit to bring him in, but using up a transfer on him would probably result in a hit at some later point, so don't think it's worth it for me.

Lol, I thought of another option:

I keep him as I have to use my GW31 FT elsewhere, but I bench him

FFF point projections don't seem accurate at all to me. For example, one week earlier in the season, they were advising me to captain Tadic! Thankfully I didn't - he got 2pts. I don't know what algorithm's they are using but they don't appear to be producing very accurate points predictions.

This will literally be the last time I will have Austin in my team, not just for this season but assuming QPR go down I will never have to see him again hopefully.

Let's see what you can do one last time Charlie, before you go back to the pub standard league.

QPR will go down but i think you will be watching Austin in the PL again next year unless PL managers agree with you, which i doubt

Fair point actually, although I'm sure he's getting paid a hefty bit by QPR's rich owners. Can imagine pseudo-pub sides like Sunderland or Hull being in the chase for him.
