Injury Concerns.

Post by Douglas Reynholm »

Who do you have that has the dreaded yellow or red square and how confident are you of them making it and coping if they don't?

Baines - Fairly confident he will make it but wouldn't be surprised if he didn't, wouldn't actually care if I thought Liam Moore would get a game as he would be my sub to replace him and fancy Leicester to keep Sunderland out.

Fabregas - 100% confident, Ramos comments in the week about players not showing the same commitment for Spain as they do their clubs helps solidify that belief more, Boyd at Stoke is waiting in the wings just incase and that is a game Burnley have a chance in so think I won't cry of he misses it.

Steven Taylor - 100% confident and won't cope if he don't start as have Alex Bruce as my next defensive sub who is also broken.

Just Baines here - not so confident after Martinez has said he isn't sure himself. Think he will be risked if he is rated anything like 80% fit though, then rested in the Europa?

Just read the Baines link in the other thread. That's him ruled out in my opinion.

I think it might well be wildcard time for me which is really inconvenient this week :x

I've also read that but I'm not too sure, it's a bit sketchy and Roy Keane has given Martinez stick for getting players to pull out of International squads.

Maybe he's just trying to make it look convincing.

I don't think that's Martinez's style really, he always comes across as super positive and optimistic, laughably so at times. I would think he'll miss the West Ham game now but we should get an update in Thursday's presser. (I think he normally does the presser on Thursday rather than Friday)

I don't think it makes too much difference as he'll only miss one game at most and there's still a chance he'll make it, so he'll be in my team with the non-playing Moore as cover. Hoping Moore gets on for a few minutes if he's on the bench as Wisdom is my third sub.

Also have Fabregas but i don't think there's ever been any doubt about him playing.

Baines - I think he will miss W. Ham and am ok if he does as I expect a clean sheet from Villa which brings me to Hutton
Hutton - He will be fit and start because if he doesn't I will have to play Wisdom at Chelsea and get 0 pts anyway.
Cesc - He will play, extremely confident about that one and if he doesn't its at least Boyd.

Barring any other injuries I will be able to field 11 and haven't done my transfer yet so could be even better than that

I'm not sure including McCarthy on a list of flagged players is a legitimate complaint.

Only Hutton, and the red box suggests he may be back this week, and he's on my bench anyway. Probably shouldn't speak too soon, more internationals to come.

Agree with the general sentiments that Baines is a serious doubt, but Fàbregas will probably play. Think the Tadić rumour is unlikely as we would have heard something serious from a decent source by now surely.

Update from a Serbian football twitter feed.

"Serbia XI vs Greece: Stojkovic, Ivanovic, D.Tosic, Maksimovic, Tomovic, Jojic, Matic, Petrovic, Z.Tosic, Markovic, Mitrovic" - No Tadić in the starting 11.

Followed by "Kolarov, Nastasic, Tadic, Bisevac and Kuzmanovic are not with the team due to injuries or requests by their clubs to return"

I haven't bothered correcting their tweets by adding accents.

Forgot to include McCarthy (QPR), the red box suggests he may be back last week, and he's on my bench anyway. :-)

I've used my free so I think I'll sell Colocini for Cahill providing he comes through the Scotland game

'We don't think it's anything serious, it was quite a tough blow' says Martino on Di Maria

It's only Tuesday plenty of time to recover, virtually certain to play imo

Agreed.

Really wish I had gone the WC route. Thought about it, but backed off. Might end up at a -8 because of it.
